I'm not a huge fan of heavy bolters (the model) but I LOVE the forgeworld heavy stubbers:

If I modeled all my heavy bolters (on troops and tanks) as that do you think anyone would complain or at a tournament it could be rejected? I imagine it's fine since they are all modeled the same and if I say before hand that they are heavy bolters. Who's to say thats not the karboncionan of scrotumnious 6 of the boobatube sector infernal heavy bolters right?

As long as you can prevent confusion with pintle-mounted heavy stubbers on chimeras and other vehicles, you should be fine.

Why did the berzerker cross the road?

Good concept. However, will you be using greenstuff to modify current heavy bolters or coming up with something new?

Depends... GW tournament they might say no, since FW stuff might be allowed and therefore kreig lists with twin HStubs could be confused...

Local club tourneys or regionals might be a bit more lax, as long as you make it 100% clear WHAT they are, at the start of the game.

No, bolts are self propelled and so bolt weapons have short barrels compared to stubbers which fire conventional bullets. You'll see that the stubber is also fitted with recoil springs because of the kick when firing.

Also, despite regional variations, the basic construction of the heavy bolter is set by the STC.

Maybe if you chopped off the stubber barrels (including the ribbed part) and replaced them with heavy bolter ends (just the part of the barrel with the vent holes in it) then you might be okay and then ignore it as a TL weapon.

I think this is a good idea. That would look pretty cool and quite unique.

I would allow it as hbolter ( though looks more closer to auto cannon )

maybe make it single barreled?

I would say this is the same as using Lascannon Heavy Weapon teams Teams as Storm Troopers. You Are replacing one model for something that is completely different.

I would have to say, no, sorry, I may Not like how Plasma Cannons Look, but I am not gonna try and use Bolt Pistols to represent them, so you should use heavy bolters to show heavy bolters.

I don't mind 'counts as in friendly games as long as it's consistent. That's about all I can really say.

As long as all heavy stubbers are heavy bolters I would be fine with it. Heavy stubber isn't an option in the standard guard list so there is no confusion.

I think its an awesome idea. Just make sure all you heavy bolters are identical, and that they do not conflict with any stubbers you may have on IG vehicles (frankly I'd lose any stubbers in the army if going for this option).

I doubt you'd have any objection in a tournament on Planet Real World.

In your base, ignoring your logic.

To tell the truth I would allow it anyways. The main part, from what I can see, look like upside down heavy bolters. If you want to, just cut off the long part of the barrel(where they connect to the gun) and cut the end of the barrels off and attach them to the guns. This would make the conversion so much more easier.

I would be totally fine with this, and can not really understand the logic behind the arguments against it.

TL HS do not exist in the IG codex, so you're not just saying "My GL are Meltaguns". Now if the IG codex *had* TL HS, then that would be different

I basically see it as the same thing as an interesting HB conversion.

Out of interest, would people be okay with an 'ardcoat covered dog turd being used for a great unclean one?

I would allow it since your showing what is represented and the coolness factor for the model. As long as there is no confusion of what weapons are.

Comparing tournament records is another form of e-peen measuring.

Thanks for the input.

I decided on a compromise......

Heavy bolters with cone flashiders at the end like a heavy bolter with the krieg auto cannon tip at the end.

I'll post pics with my build. It's going to be interesting to say the least. Still a month or 2 out. Forgeworld and whatnot.

thats a bit harsh.. he doesnt like the look of the model so he is finding a close alternative, i would say yes, you're examles are a little blown out of proportion... lascannon heavy wep teams have large bases and are two models, weapons look completey different.. same with the bolt pistol as PC, his one looks good to him and is close enoguh to the original,

Egh... To use another in game weapon to represent an in game weapon... Not really kosker if you ask me. Take those Heavy Stubbers and shorten the barrel all the way to the base and now you're talking.
