I picked up my new IG codex on Saturday and once I got home and leafed through it I noticed the color was messed up badly on a few of the hobby pages. Is anyone elses new codex like this?

I don't have it with me right now, I'll edit this post later tonight listing what pages are screwed up.

it wouldn't happen to be on the first color page on the catachan picture would it?
My codex has a weird green and red stain there.

Yes, p73 in the bottom right of the Catachan picture.

Also on p79 the first three Catachans there are oddly colored. They have a very yellow looking tone to them.

Now p73 is a blatant print issue, but p79 may just be my eyes playing tricks on me. In either case I don't care all to much as the rest of the codex is perfectly fine. I just wanted to see if there were any others that had this blemish.

Oh Snap!

Yeah, GW just love to cut costs with shoddy printing. GW really has gone downhill in the last few years. :(

This has got nothing to do with "disdain for the rulkes". This is a printing error, nothing more. My codex was fine, which means there were a few in the print run that should not have been perfect-bound. I'm a printing manager, so I understand this is not a vast conspiracy by GW to ignore rules and codex development.

The problem is, back in the day (2nd ed) when GW actually printed quality codex's (Referring to both the actual book and the content inside of them) I don't think you had people buying a codex for it to literally fall apart at the seams 3 days later. Even in 3rd edition the codex's were of excellent quality (My Original Print run SW codex is in wonderful shape, considering the abuse it has taken), so yeah, recently GW has said "Ya know what, we don't care, lets get our books printed in a China Sweatshop, quality be damned".

Why must people have shoddy workmanship!
And charge an arm and a leg for it...but I'm still gonna buy it.

Just wait soon GW will come out with GW brand "codex protectors" which will be essentially a plastic bag, they will charge as much as a white dwarf(to make a white dwarf seem like a good deal). This is all part of a larger plan by GW, they are a company of course; and they need to make money.

take your codex to the nearest office supply store - Staples etc, have them cut off the binding and spiral bind it for you. Had ALL of mine done, only cost a couple of bucks each and will make them last so much longer and makes them easier to use as well - book lies open flat and you can flip to the page that you need and it will stay there! I also put a cover on the front and back for more protection, another couple of bucks but if it saves me spending another $30 then its well worth it

Before I had to get the 5th edition Codex: Ultramarines (A Necessary evil if I wanted to play my Wolves) I had not spiral bound any of my books, when my Ultrasmurf Codex fell apart, I couldnt be bothered to go back to the GW (Nearest GW to me is a 3 Hour round trip) so I just got it spiral bound. I love it so much I got all my other Codex's Done.

I thought about spiral binding mine, but I can bring myself to do it. Thankfully none of them are falling apart, but may the emperor protect GW if they do because I will unleash hell if they don't replace it.

Somewhere.

They refused to replace my Ork Codex and Space Marine one...but to be fair I'm not sure there was much point. I accidently took some kids Codex home because I thought it was mine, what with exactly the same pages falling out of the damned thing.

And this was when the shop floor minions were mostly of the, 'I wear the Blue Shirt so I am a Warhammer GOD!' type. My friends hideously misprinted High Elf Codex (pages in wrong order, upside down, occasionally just missing completely) got replaced, so...

A red shirt at my local GW store said that if pages fall out of my Ork or Space Marine codex and I bring it in, as long as it's in "like new" condition (other than the pages falling out of course) they'll replace it.

I should mention that the binding on the IG codex looks sturdy. I have no fears of pages falling out of this one.

You know they are just gonna put it back on the shelf right? You're better off just spiral binding it.

Once it leaves my posetion it's not my concern what they do with it. I'd imagine that it would most likely turn into a store copy, but I doubt it would get placed back on the rack for resale if it has pages falling out of it.
