I am no expert on the Guard, and only a new and casual player, but here is my own comments and observations on the new Codex.

Holy Armored Vehicles!!!

This should certainly satisfy any treadhead out there with up to 18 tanks possible in a standard force organization (ok so the points may be a little tight), but do not let all the new mechanized candy distract you from what is really important. Imperial Guard grunts are now even cheaper!! 50 points for a 10 man squad is almost 17 % cheaper than before!! Bring on the horde of man!!

Hellguns really are better than Lasguns now, too bad you have to pay SM prices for the guys that carry them

Vetrans Vetrans Vetrans, now that they are just a regular troops choice, you can take as many as you like, skip the Infanty Platoon if you like, and go hard core. Add Carapace armor if you prefer extra crunchy.

Armored Sentinels Are they finally usable?

Deathstrike? Can anyone say 1 trick pony?
