Recently I've been considering a zombie dragon mounted by a combat oriented vampire lord for 3000 point games. I was thinking of Vampire Lord 205 Red Fury, Infinite Hatred 75 Walach's Bloody Hauberk, Blood Drinker, Enchanted Shield 100 Zombie Dragon 275 Total = 655 Adding to my already 2250 points (still slightly in the works) I have enough to add another squad of ghouls with a ghast. The rest of the list would be very magic focused and I think at 3000 pts it will be a big target for everything so I can let the rest of the army do it's thing without being rushed down. Should I increase the Vamp lord's magic level for 50 pts just for the extra dispel dice and the few extra PD he could use to cast IoN?

At 3000 points it's fine as long as it wont be your general. At any lower point level it's one lucky shot or spell and your army will crumble.

2012- stopped caring
Nova Open 2011- Orks 8th Seed---(I see a trend)
Adepticon 2011- Mike H. Orks 8th Seed (This was the WTF list of the Final 16)

I had a talk with some people at my FLGS about this build and some questions have come up.
Someone was saying that the zombie dragon mount will benefit from infinite hatred. I don't think this sounds right, can anyone clarify?
Also there was a debate about the armor save the lord would have. This is how it broke down, 4+ from Hauberk, 5+ from shield (+2), +1 for sword+shield, +2 for mounted on barbed mount (from scaly skin) for a save of -1. Now this didn't sound right to me either it should be 1+ right? Hauberk is 4, +1 from shield, +1 from sword+shield, +1 mounted. Which is right +1 or -1?
And I thought that the Blood Drinker could give wounds back to the Zombie Dragon but one person said he was quite certain that it's only the vampire himself or a 'unit' he is with. So can someone help with that one?

You can't take the Enchanted Shield with Walach's Bloody Hauberk as you can only have one piece of magic armor on any given character.
Also, monsters don't grant the rider an armor save bonus and the shield bonus only applies to models on foot. Your vampire would have the 4+ save from the Hauberk with no additional bonuses.

I just borrowed the main fantasy rulebook. Oh well. Guess it becomes a little cheaper and slightly better. I just don't trust a 4+ followed by a 5+ though.
Vampire Lord 205
Red Fury, Infinite Hatred 75
Blood Drinker, The Flayed Hauberk 65
Zombie Dragon 275
Total = 620

Personally, I wouldn't bother with Blood Drinker. When you put your general on a dragon you want him to hit as hard as possible in order to ensure that he can break the enemy in one round. Give him the auto-hit lance, or the balefire spike instead.

Hew won't be the general. But I guess if he has the Dread Lance we wouldn't need infinite hatred either.
Vampire Lord 205
Red Fury 50
Dread Lance, The Flayed Hauberk 85
Zombie Dragon 275
Total = 615
Edit: This means the lord gets 4 str 7 attacks on the charge that wound on a 2+ then another number of attacks for each unsaved wound. Isn't there something special about str 7 though?

I'm assuming you're thinking of chariot busting. Any chariot that takes a Str 7 (or greater) wound is destroyed outright.
