EDIT: I am now 18, and have restarted this as it's easier than starting a new one. the new models start at the bottom of page 1, and are considerably better than most of the models on page 1 (excluding the games day models)

Hello, this is my first blog so please bear with me.

I am 15 years old
and have been playing warhammer since I was 12, I have a large collection of eldar, a smallish force of space marines, and a fledgeling Ork WAAAGH!!

I finally decided to start a blog after months of Dakkaing (is that a word?) as I am aiming to improve my painting and modelling skills.
In this blog I will be showing my work, as and when it is completed, posting photos of my older models, and basically running a blog.

And so we come to the Photos...

I must say, you are very good for your age. At 15, I was just barely getting into wargaming. That was 8 years ago now. I think I am just now starting to do quality painting, as before I think I was mainly interested in the game rather then the painting. Now it is the opposite. But that aside, bang up job mate.

EDIT: I also wanted to add what a relief it is for a person of your age to have such proper grammar. I hate reading blogs that are like "CHEK OUTZ MY WARBOZ LOLLOLOLOLOLOL!"

Hello again,
Here is some of the stuff that I am working on at the moment, all of my ork stuff is from Assault On Black Reach, but I plan on adding a unit of grotz, and some converted Flash Gitz, possibly with Kaptin Badrukk.

In the long term I am planning on scratch-building two Stompas, and buying one so that I can field a stompa mob in Apocalypse (or more suitably in this case 'Aporkalypse')

do you mean the warboss or the boys?
The boys have just had a thraka green wash, and the warboss still needs a lot of the washes and second stage highlights done.
I am trying to get what I have got on the face to work over the entire body.

Well, I have assembled the Grotz and after much wailing and gnashing of teeth, have managed to make the weapons for the runtherd swappable

Hello again, Sorry about the long break, but I had my year ten exams.

I have finished the warboss (finally), finished all of the gretchin minus one, and have carried on working on the Nobz.
Sadly the head for my runtherd has disappeared, so I am forced to use the inferior leering head.
I have also started work on a super-secret project

You know what, I've decided to resurrect my painting blog.
It will probably not be updated that much, but it will be alive.

And, in the year and 4 months since I last posted, I have improved (at least I think I have)

And so, as I currently have no new photos, I will re-post some that I made after this blog died the last time.

So yeah, I'm going to try and kidnap the family camera so that I can upload some photos of my Games Day entry, and my current WIP, the Games Day Sorceror.

As promised, here are the photos of my Golden Demon entry for this year, Astorath the Grim:

(the photos aren't particularly good, my dad's camera's settings got muddled a bit, and I can't work out how to reset them :( )

And also as promised, here are a couple of WIP shots of my Chaos Sorceror for the National Painting Competition that's running in GWs at the moment;

Comments and Criticism are welcome, as I'm always trying to improve.

Well, in the past week, I've managed to finish the Chaos Sorceror, so without further ado, here he is...

The purple skin is a mixture of Mechrite red and Mordian Blue (with slightly more red than blue), and dwarf flesh, with bleached bone added for the highlights.
This is the first time that I've used Hawk Turquoise on a model (apart from the axe effect on Astorath), and I have to say that I've fallen in love with the colour.
I particularly like the verdigris effect on the shoulder pad, and the colour fade on the tentacle, again this was the first time I've tried both techniques, so any ways that I can improve my method would be useful.

As always comments and criticism are very welcome, as I'm always trying to improve

And Introducing... drumroll please... My next Project..... My first Resin Model.... A Death Korps of Krieg Commisar!!

So yeah, I bought him at Games Day, along with some other yet to be revealed forgeworld models, and I shall be painting him next, as an exercise in weathering and grime.

Well, due to the snow I've had some free time to do some painting, so without further ado, I present to you my Commisar

I'm not particularly pleased with this guy, due to both the photography, and the way that I painted him, but as it was my first time using resin I'm not too bothered.

Also, I've been working on his big brother and have made my first ever scenic base:

And the horse goes on like so...

He is missing two legs and a hand at this point, but It's going well so far, and only one minor cut from the hobby knife

as always, comments and criticism are welcome.

Heh, only one cut you say? In that case, it might suffice to say, "You're doing it wrong." Just kidding. Anyway, though you might not be too fond of your commissar's style, I must say he works for me. And I like the basing for your death rider or whatever the Korps' RR brigades are called. Fabulous work, and I expect for you to continue with it.

Hi, it's been ages since I last updated, and I'm at university now! (Sheffield Uni if anyone on here is from around there) This means that not only am I now 3 hours away from my parents, I also have lots more free time, which I can spend painting and generally doing awesome stuff (like running around sheffield with nerf guns).

Also, because I haven't updated for about 2 years, I've got a few models and projects to share (There aren't too many, because I stopped almost entirely during my A Levels)

So without further ado, my current project at the moment, a repainted scout from the old days when I collected space marines, for use in an Inquisitor Warband (I also have a Daemonhost, Crusaders, two Kasrkin and an Acolyte on order)

He isn't quite finished yet,, I've still got to apply the first layer of snakebite leather to most of the brown bits, as well as a few ink washes and highlights, and the entire warband is meand to be quite old and radical, getting more lenient as the Inquisitor has gotten older, so theres going to be a fair bit of verdigris and rust thrown in there.

And, as to the identity of the inquisitor, it all links back to Games Day 2010, when I bought a few resin models and managed to get the commisar on horseback from earlier, where I obtained, in one kit, the Inquisitor, a Psyker, and an alter ego for the Daemonhost (a la Cherubael from Eisenhorn), who is going to be painted similarly to my old Sorceror, in the form of these:

Unfortunately, I sprayed the astropath and the scabbard bearer two days before I came back to sheffield after christmas, and managed to leave them neatly packed and bubble wrapped in a box on my desk, so they should arrive fairly soon via royal mail (likely around the same time as the rest of the warband), however also in the box are these two, both of which are sprayed, but which mean that I only have two models available to paint until they get here.

(Because it's a fun model, and posed specifically so that it'll be fairly easy to try new techniques on), and

(Because its just plain awesome.)

And so we get onto my finished and almost finished models (finally)

Here is my Prince Althran, a model I've had since the day it was released (October 2011?) but haven't painted till this summer, and which isn't quite finished, because I sort of gave up because of how long he was taking.

as you can see, he was almost there, so if I finish Sebastien (The scout) before any other models arrive, then I'll finish him off.

Finally, we arrive at the model that brought me back to warhammer after a long period of A Levels and not finding any models that I both liked and thought I would be able to paint well, a birthday present from an awesome freind of mine, the plastic Nurgle Champion.

So there we have it. I doubt there'll be many posts as large as this, as I'll most likely be posting smaller updates, but more frequently.
I'd like to think that I've improved with age, but as always I'm always looking for suggestions and tips on how to get better at it!

Coming Soon to a Blog Near You:
Finished Scout
Finished Althran
Inquisitorial Goodness
and a possible surprise secret guest if I can learn how to strip paint and reassemble models I bought many moons ago and royally cocked up the assembly of. (here's a clue, it was limited edition, and came out in 2008) (Yes I know how long that line was)

I suddenly realised that the base for Sebastien wouldn't fit with the rest of the warband, who will be receiving shiny specially constructed industrial bases made from plasticard and metal, so I removed the sand from his base, pried him loose, and went about making him his own fancy base.
(It isn't actually that fancy, it's just that a sand floor wouldn't really fit in on a spaceship)

The base's owner is currently stood with the bottom of his foot superglued to a piece of wire for painting, and will hopefully be finished by tomorrow evening
