So what are the Land Raider variants? other than the redeemer, crusader i.e other than codex ones..

not even I love marines (well i love the background my army is crap) and even I think the terminus is junk ooooh I can shoot things real dead or kill myself awesome.

No it was just a way to sell more land raiders when apocalypse came out

The main problem with the Terminus isn't the rules (which are silly, but we'll ignore that). It's the look. The side sponsons look stupid. It should have had a Predator Annihilator turret, not the sponsons.

And it should just be the Land Raider Terminus, not the Terminus Ultra.

Put the pred sponsons on the back doors use the normal hull for the razorback turret and it looks loads better.

A terminus would be best for taking down a stompa tho.. seeing as soon i'll be facing one =(

but I'm versing many orks atm.. so i think the ares is the best option.. any tips?

If you want a super heavy, why not a Fellblade (from the Collected Visions artwork) or Herucles Heavy Tank (from WD120) which is basically a Marine version of the Baneblade.

What about updating the ancient Sabre tank?

if your against orks then the redeemer should work well.

anything with a template of some form will help you out to no end.

also, tac squads with flamer and heavy bolters should help. (grab a cheap razor for them with TL HB's and thats even better)

Are you looking to make a LR variant just for fluff for your army or for a diorama or to actually use in games? I built my Hercules pattern LR a few years ago...it's more fluff for my army than any true unit but when I finally get some rules for it I will play test it to death.

My Marine army is based around Techmarines and their quest for knowledge...the Hercules can be used as my Forge Lords personal transport or as a battlefield recovery unit (the chapter will not leave anything salvageable on the field and will devote massive resources to recovering their fallen...makes for great battle scenarios!).

Excuse the missing tracks...its still a WIP Curiously, I was toying with the idea of adding a dozer blade...having seen the Ares in this thread I might go for it but I would need to make some kind of armature so the blade looks like it could be raised to allow access from the front ramp.

I'd love to say I have come up with some rules but, alas, no. I do have idea's that I jot down now and agin but I have to get round to writing up the whole background fluff for my army and then rules for the more unique units.

I always saw the Herc as a more defensive rather than offensive vehicle...there to transport the Techmarines and servitors to wreck sites and then recover whatever they need to. The arms are fully poseable on the model...the idea behind them was to help the Techmarines move large components or cut up twisted wreckage rather than be useful in combat. I always envisioned them being rather ponderous in their execution...though if a Dreadnought was foolish enough to get too close it would be quite fun to have the arm snip of a leg or two

I went with an Assault Cannon and Twin Linked Multi Melta (yes I know they don't exist...but it looks cool) for one simple reason; 24" range on both weapons means the Herc will spend any time firing to defend itself rather than going looking for the enemy, which is in keeping with it's role. I also have a scenario in mind where the Herc has to tow a damaged Predator/Rhino to safety, which could be fun.

looks great, I have been toying with the idea of adding a servo arm, to the razor back i use the transport my techmarine.

I don't do 'for fluff'.. I want one with rules for gaming, as I said earlier I'm going up against a Stompa soon. So I think the redeemer just wouldn't cut it =)

Thats why I might just have to pull out the Terminus.. I'll see how I go, I'm sure i can make all the weapons interchangeble..

What about a Perturabo Storm Tank?



You could of course make a Land Raider variant of it by placing that triple barrelled lascannon on the Land Raider as some sort of scary turret

Ahh, a fellow 'old timer' lol. You are quite correct, that is a Mole Mortar...took me a fair bit of fiddling to make it so it looks like the stand is folded...thanks for the compliment.

The Terminus is ok if you like 'overkill' (and you will probably need it against a Stompa) but as H.B.M.C. said it looks dumb! I don't mind the idea so much but I do like my vehicles and Dreadnoughts to look funtional.

If I were to make a Terminus...which I probably will at some point...I would make some kind of armature to mount the two single lascannons on. I think something similar to the Tau Skyray but much closer to the hull and fixed rather than moveable (hmmmm, idea blossoming ) This would then free up the sponson mounted TL Lascannons to actually be able to turn through their correct arcs rather than hitting someting plonked in front of them as an afterthought
