Oh I'm not worried about winning or not. But there's a lot of talent on this forum. I've been reading these forums for several years, but never joined till now. The amount of talent people have on here is crazy

So I got a test piece done and I think I should be able to get at least three more pieces to meet the 12" requirement. Was thinking it was 4 6" pieces for some reason.. Even better. If there's time I may do the other four in a different color scheme.

Could be done, may benefit from some more weathering. Some will have posters like this, may experiment with some tagging given time.

There's my hat in the ring, so to speak!

@ LT: very nice, those hazard stripes are looking great.

@ Red: plenty of time, I hope we get to see it finished

@GrimDork: Just don't make the mistake I did and not seal in the foam if you spray it. They look great

I'm seeing this as a challenge as to how much I can do in a short time frame.
I'm not aiming to win, I don't want to win, I'm just having fun. I had intended to join this comp (and the last one ...) just didn't come up with an idea in time.

Best of luck getting entry finished people.

Yeah you can melt that stuff too I mostly use my airbrush to prime these days, especially this time of year when it's cold out.

They're getting coated in Dap crack shot (or similar) let to dry, brushed/sanded a bit, and then airbrush/drybrush/washed. I'll probably spray seal them as the vulnerable foam should be well hidden by the time they're to that stage.

I just found out about this (and have read up to page 3)... & I have a project that requires all of my attention until xman xmas, but I have 3 days after that to get my barricade built, right? :-D

Even if I finish this, it isn't a winner, but I enjoy contests so I made time to start making my entry :-D

It is a Power Cable Tap (Territory) from Necromunda (honestly, it is/will be!). :-) So, two "barricades" and a little "portable" power-tap device (so the outlaws can keep on the move and escape the wrath of the settlements/guilders) :-P I plan on painting the clear plastic and cutting some sections out to have bits of wire sticking out here and there. The only real cables that will be visible will be where the two barricades meet/join and on the other ends as the cables go back "underground".

The three pieces wont be wired together, so can be placed separately or together at a bunch of different angles. I assume that this fits the criteria?

Magos - If you're uploading them to dakka if you could put them in a separate gallery then just PM me a link to the gallery, then I can sort them for when I create the 'finished piece' post.

Welcome trollmeat and ben77peterson (who let me know he'd be joining us via PM if you're wondering which post I'm replying to )

Have to find a water based spray paint or some paints from micheals.

Learned the hard way last night that Styrofoam hates aerosol (dummy, I forgot about that). Good thing I made six walls, and not just one!

Sacrifice one for the cause!

BAHAHAHA, I soooo know the feeling. I remember back in Jr. High and doing a project in styrofoam and spraying it....had to do it the day of because of the melt from the night before....was not enjoyable. Best of luck with 2.0!

also, watercolours worked and saved me if I remember correcly.....so did those cheap liquid acrylics from the dollar store.

A coat of PVA (white glue) watered down and librally applied and allowed to dry will protect it from the aerosol.

@ EyeamRai. Those look awesome and very interesting.Looking forward to those.

Great work everyone this is as always one heck of a good contest.

There's all four walls painted, just need to add some more posters and maybe a bit of graffiti. I think that's the last I'll post here as they're closer to done than not.

I included the Reverend More-ass as Red saw fit to step up the comp with his lady morat glamor model

I'm supposed to post the occasional WIP shot, right?

This is Hazard Stripe Test, as I can't figure out a non-fiddly non-masking-tape way of making tiny stripes *easily*

Edit: Also, no access to printer. Any suggestions?

Cheat like heck and use a Sharpie. Just paint it yellow and draw the stripes on! I used to do that. I just paint them all freehand these days less hassle to be honest. same as checkers etc. Paint it all yellow and using a thick brush, the thickness of the stripes you need, paint the black, one stroke one stripe. Done.
Your pieces are looking brilliant though.

Your walls are looking excellent Grim.

Gods this is a tough one this time around, excellent comp Monkey, excellent.

Apologies for being quiet. I've been busy with this helbrute conversion/improvement and with making some Christmas presents.

I haven't even had time to think about what I could build, never mind collect together materials or start building anything. Can't see me getting anything done before the deadline.

Good work to those of you that have done something. Too much to comment on individually, but I can sum up my potential feedback for everyone; More little details! But not details for details sake. Rivets are always good, and MT likes tentacles.

Now to catch up with everyone's blogs that I've been lurking on.

There is still time, Dr H. I only started on the 22nd with some bits of debris I had laying about and I've almost finishing making my mess entry!

...but, then again, I have no life and it's kinda terribad

Does everything have to be entirely scratch built? 'cos all the barricade bits in my entry are, but the lil joining "power tap" thing that hooks in is just bits of debris I had laying about glued together (I couldn't tell you what they are)....

Almost there!

Yeah, but I can spend a week working on a small piece of a model that will be mostly hidden inside the final model.

I can't throw things together and agonise over the smallest of details. I built a junk pile, piece by piece with tweezers, rather than just pile it up and call it done.

I'll get around to making my fence, I said I'd do it, so I will... but it'll probably take a few more weeks...

Good progress. I'd say that if it's made of bits that you've glued together in an unintended way, that counts as scratch-built. But MT has the last word, it being his competition.

Perfectionism is a curse, unless combined with efficiency training and time management skills it can be many a good modeller's downfall. (which is why I never put any effort into anything, ever)

"I'd say that if it's made of bits that you've glued together in an unintended way, that counts as scratch-built."
Yeah, that is what I thought, but if MT disagrees I can always scrap it and just enter the two barricade/power cable parts, as the Tap-Device bit is entirely there for fluff
