I'm... rather pleasantly surprised with those. Cybermen look a bit skinny, but the height isn't horrible. Now to wait until someone can post a pic of one of these Daleks compared to one of the scads of DWA freebie Daleks and I might be in real trouble.

Primarily because Karen Gillan was taller than them...

The Daleks were sized to look Billie Piper, and then Karen Gillian in the eyes. So yes the later ones were taller due to Karen being taller than Billie. Karen is 5'11". That won't stop the Daleks from being 8' tall compared to everything else in 28mm or even 32mm scale. Even without a base they will be noticeably gigantic. I'd be very happy to be proven wrong.

It was the Tonka toy/iDaleks/"New paradigm" ones that were made to be larger. Can't speak for if they upped the size of the brass Time War ones when they retconned the others out of existence.

On the left the Warlords mini. In the middle a free dalek mini from the Dr Who magazine (about 5 years old). On the right the Harlequins mini from Dr. Who Invasion Earth (about 25 years ago?).

Those DWM Daleks actually fit in pretty well, just paint them up in bright colours and they would fit as a slightly older design.

The Davros and Missy packs contain additional Recruitment cards and specific Adventure cards for the Daleks / Cybermen. Over in one of the Facebook groups when discussing painting one of the Daleks black to represent the Patrol Leader one of the developers had this to say -

Models are the same but the cards offer some upgrades and the chance to field more 'individual' Daleks.

So sounds like there will be reasons to paint up more Daleks in alternate colour schemes soon. Hopefully reasons to paint up small groups in alternate schemes rather then just single models.

Well, Looks like those might be usable with the greater range of 32mm figures out there. Guess I need to invest in a box to find out.

The game along with the Davros Dalek and Missy Cybermen expansions are released next week. The two expansions contain troop cards for Cult of Skaro Daleks, Imperial Guard Daleks and upgraded Cybermen to give extra options for army building.

The 10 figure "Nightmares in Silver" collectors pack is also up for pre-order. £30 for 10 different Cybermen designs.

This pack does not contain rules at the moment, they are more of a collectors set but they intend to release free cards for them at some point in the future.

Warlods seem very keen on the line as other models that have already been sculpted / final design stages include -
Tomb of the Cybermen design Cybermen
Autons
Mire with Hybrid / Me
9th Doctor with Rose, Mickey, Roses' mum and Jack.
1st Doctor
5th Doctor
11th Doctor
Heavenly Host, Astrid and 10th Doctor in a tux.
Ogrons
Sea Devils (coming in June)
Vashta Nerada

I have most likely forgotten a few.

More of a general question, but has anyone in North America ordered from warlord in £££ and gotten it cheaper due to exchange rate? Or do they not allow that? I got a discount code from them for joining the newsletter and creating an account and I'm trying to find the best deal/ least expensive route to start building my gates of antares army.

Thanks

You should absolutely get whatever you order at the current exchange rate if you order directly from Warlord. Unless the web site has an actual US price, they bill you in their native money. Your bank (or Paypal whatever) pays them at the current exchange rate. Only certain companies (ahem... GW) force their own exchange rates on their customers.

Never mind that. Warlord have USD as an option on their site. So you probably have to pay their USD prices that are not just the current exchange rate. Try Wayland games, they sell Warlord products to the US and just use the exchange rate. Problem is they are out of stock quite often.

Thanks Justyn for the response.

Just saw on their forums someone posted that they order in the US and pay in £££ all the time. Might be hitting them soon with the preorder for the new Antares book coming out in July.

I just don't like their sculpts. I see detail, but they seem crude at the same time. The posing doesn't help, it's not dynamic and they seem flat. The plastic Daleks look great, most of the rest not so. I don't get why it all looks so odd.

I think the sculpts are okay, but agree with you otherwise. The static poses look bad and suck all the energy out of the game.

I do like the Cybermen and Daleks. Most of the non-human figures are pretty good. A shame about the Doctors and companions.

The poses are awful, and the best design (IMO) of the bunch, the Tomb Cybermen have those blocky lips sculpted that just look wrong...

I'm sorry, I'm gonna stick with the Harlequin/Black Tree/Orbis Cybermen models, sure they're 25mm scale, but frankly they're just better

I apologise for my ignorance, but is that correct about the Terminator game being dropped? Is that why the Warlord online store has items that are 'sold out', they are not making any more?

Same deal with Judge Dredd line?

Terminator flopped hard, so is on its way out.

As for Dredd, Mongoose has not renewed the rights and thus no longer does anything Dredd related (which will be exciting for the KS backers still out of product). Instead, Warlord has picked up the rights itself and will be doing their own games, starting with Strontium Dog IIRC.

Were't they selling the Terminator stuff off for pennies a month ago? Its not that bad, you could get away with using that stuff for things like Shadowrun, or in the case of the humans they're generic enough to work as just sci-fi soldier types (or give them contemporary weapons from the Wargames Factory/ Warlord Games stuff).

More Bolt Action Sea Lion stuff tomorrow I suspect. Either one Blackshirt box with the whole line, or a regulars blister, plus special weapons ones (though I don't see those selling well. They'd do as atypical thug models though). Eugh, it'll be months before the plastic Tiger II shows up unfortunately, I'd buy four of those (...no, no I honestly will).

The game might be good, but when the movie it belongs to crashes and burns, it's not something you'd want to hold on to for long.

And Judge Dredd, while functional, I can't help but feel that the rulebook is a bloody mess that really needs a good editor to comb through it and sort things out. If scenarios refer to special rules without telling you where to look.. Drokk off. There's also the feeling that they want a fresh start to distance their selves from anything related to Mongoose, who has a less than stellar reputation sometimes. Good thing is though, IIRC Gav Thorpe and Andy Chambers are going to work on the new 2000AD games.

Only good partnership thus far really does seem to be between Warlord and Italeri, as they've been pumping out 1:56 plastic vehicle kits at a steady pace. Mind, most of these kits appear to be simplified or scaled down 1:35 kits Italeri already has on sale, but they're doing it at a good rate unlike other companies, though what with Italeri being a dedicated gaming company, no biggy for them.

Thank you for the reply.
I really wanted to like the terminator game but I wanted a T2 future war, not this current version so I thought better to not get involved, still I am sad to see it going out.

And Dredd! Damn, both universes I like and they get shafted. lol

Well BrookM in regards to the 1/56th scale vehicle kits the big takeaway from what you said is the rate Warlord are coming out with there's. If Rubicon kept a similar pace then Warlord's plastic vehicle range would crash and burn. They're like night and day. In a shop the only reason I would pick up a Warlord kit is if the Rubicon one is out of stock, or more commonly, Rubicon haven't released their own yet. ...Meanwhile people somehow think Warlord's are better, but I think they may have smeared their eyes with peanut butter (this is coming from a guy painting a Warlord Sd.Kfz 251 at the moment after just coming off of the Rubicon version of the same kit. Bleh).

But... ah, at the moment I CBA waiting on DieWaffenkammer's stuff taking 3 months to show up (ahem I mean 7 days guaranteed service. Canada Post is godawful), so I'll turn to Warlord's resin. I like Jeff at Die Waffenkammer though, so he's getting my money regardless.

*I think this post was contextual to this thread other than being just bitching, but well...

Agreed! Having built two Rubicon kits myself, they represent the golden standard and Italeri does not even come close to them.

Having seen Warlord/Italeri to Rubicon direct model comparisons of plastic models, I also much prefer Rubicon. Often the Warlord models have a bit more superficial detail to them. But the Rubicon models are so much easier to build and make look good (read: hide joints, sprue connection points, etc.). Although, I don't really have any complaints with Warlord models.

I always go for the Rubicon option when given a choice. It is just a matter them being a smaller, more focused company with a much smaller model range that has me picking up Warlord models. Heck, most of the time when I bought Warlord vehicle models it was the resin ones as there weren't plastic kits from either company. Much of the time, I didn't think there would be or not for a long while.

I was a little surprised to see a plastic KV-1/KV-2 from Warlord, and I think they are actually releasing some Japanese tanks in plastic. Which I never really thought would happen.

On topic, I sorta want to get the Dr. Who game. Not because I am a fan of Dr. Who (outside of Tom Baker, I'm not), but because my friend who plays miniatures games is a big fan. I would like have a game where he really enjoys the IP while I enjoy the miniatures game. However, between the lack of game time we already get, my funds, the uninspiring model sculpts and being a little bit big scale I can't see me doing so. I think I would be much better off getting the board game Time of the Deleks instead.

Terminator Genisys: River Horse is the company that makes it, Warlord is just the distributor. I'm guessing River Horse has stopped production, so Warlord is selling off remaining stock. You can still buy the boutique models from River Horse. I have most of what was released, in resin, and some in metal, and the infantry are fantastic. The resin and metal endoskeletons are some of the finest miniatures I've ever owned.

Judge Dredd: Warlord made the metals for Mongoose. Mongoose did not renew the license. Warlord has returned the molds, etc, to Mongoose.

Terminator is a great game, but the movie died on it's ass and that killed it. The mechanics are solid, but River Horse aren't going to plough more resources into it instead of their other licenced products.

Warlord were just a distributor.

Judge Dredd was a Mongoose product, Mongoose got out of producing physical miniatures after a series of games dying and licences not being renewed, and Warlord ended up being the distributor and manufacturer of the range when they hadn't been the ones developing and steering it. Then Mongoose lost/didn't renew the licence.

Now Warlord have the licence they're doing a Strontium Dogs game. I don't know if any Mongoose minis will make the transition, but some of the SST moulds ended up with Rebel Miniatures, so who knows what will happen with the range.

If Warlord do a range from scratch it'll end up being based around the range they want for the games they want to produce, rather than creating something to support a range they inherited.

They will probably announce something when the Mega City One Show pops up. I'm sure it will generate hype so its just way too much chance not to capitalize on that hype.

They only have the licence to sell at retail within the UK but it is available for internal orders from Warlords Doctor Who specific site -

https://doctorwhotimevortex.com/

This Doctor Who specific store offers free international postage on almost every order (doesn't say what the cut off point is but believe around £10) and orders seem to qualify for any promotional miniatures that the Warlord store are offering (I received a free Lt Spiers model even though I was a couple of pounds under the threshold).

Warlord games has their summer sprue sale going on now. Sprue a up to 1/2 off.

For gates of antares they have the Ghar battle and assault suits at $6.40 each and the bombard suit at $8. So I think I might try and grab a few of each.

They also have the C3 concord squad at $10(rounded there as it was $9.xx I forget), by the bases are on a seperate sprue so you need to figure those in.
