Finally back to painting. Been avoiding due to a hatred of painting black, but have managed to get all tge highlighting done. All tgats left is a drybrush on metal sections, squad markings and base.

And thats my melta scions done, and with that ive finished all my scion infantry

That said getting through the brown sections now which is further along than i thought id be.

Bit more progress on my inquisition squats.

All the big sections done aside from the guns. Hopefully get these done over my week off.

After that just wee bits to finish off

Not much to do now to finish what must be tge most niche squad ever.

Few more highlights and onto bases.

Bit bored with my acolytes, so painting a priest to break up the batch painting.

My first attempt at tattoos, with a mix of black, blue and dwarf flesh.

Going to do a few progress posts, as i'm not likely have time to paint for next few months.

Hopefully these will show how far ive managed to get, and motivate me to push on when i have some free time again.

Thats why they have hoods, they need the extra height.

Anyhoo, here where i am with scion list, including my favorite called 'up yours squat' with sculpted finger gesture. Again, needs vehicles.

Headswaps too .

The scions are plastic Squats that have had armour sculpted on to them.

As always, I am looking forward to seeing these new guys painted .

Yeah the packers look like a head swap with the Standard bearer body and the right one is from the Squat Commander and the left looks like a Squat heavy weapon guy. Very nicely done.

Yeah, my living ancestors are just the metal standard bearers with a head swap, beard sculpt, and the standards replaced with skulls.

If you buy enough squat lots you end up with quite a few broken standards over time, so thought id make use of them

Great thing about head swaps with squats is how easy it is to hide the joints with beard hair.

Scions are mostly space dwarfs bodies i sculpted over, though a few are from press moulds (found it a pain to do so would avoid doing that again).

Bit different.

Painting up some van saar, who will be used as proxy guard, representing a miner militia fighting alongside the squats.

Giving them pale skin to represent the lack of light exposure.

Plan on blonde hair and maybe red facial tattoos.

Still some highlighting to do on browns and metals.

Finding it hard to fit in painting with a 4month baby, so keeping tge paint scheme super basic

Thanks. I like how the colour choices are working, though its more necessity than design. Really hard to get time with a 4 month old baby, and going to the gym 4 times a week.

Classic van saar with a few of the van saar fanatic range sculpts (where availble through specialist games). Love the new models, and they would be alot easier to work with, but the older models just look a little more miner like to me. They are also dirt cheap now. Git a lot of 25 for about 40 gbp recently.

Thanks, finally feel like ive got enough painted to call it an army.

Hopefully can remain motivated enough to get these van saar painted up. Will have 55 to finish.

Not much more done, hair colour chosen alongside red for glass bits.

Nice change of pace from my squats, and feel they are really giving the cavern dweller look i was after (if possible looking a bit vampire).

After a break im getting back into it with a side project. Going to convert pirate slayers to make some arco flagelant proxies.

Bit more converting than i thought itd be, but making progress on first 3.
