IIRC, they're designed for gashapon machines, so you'll either need to buy from Japan or find a specialty store willing to import for you.

All of these figures are going to be available worldwide

You don't need to buy extra expensive from the bad website.

I wonder how much GW will have them selling at.
£18 for a block of 5 is less than I thought they’d be..
Though shipping I don’t know what it’d come to..

(Note to mods: I wasn't sure about reviving this thread, though the post is relevant. If this is too much thread necromancy please let me know.)

The 40K gashapon chibis are now "in the wild" in Japan.

Even on a gashapon machine, GW's got to push those Primaris!

This shows the blue plastic capsule the figure comes in, the figure itself and the promo leaflet that comes with it:

The figure itself, front and rear:

This is Series 1, and the available figures are the Primaris Intercessor, Battle Sister, Grey Knight, Skitarii Ranger and Eversor Assassin. They are JPY500 each, and I got the Eversor figure.

The figure is approximately 40mm tall to the top of its head, and the included base is approximately 40mm in diameter. There are two pegs on the base which slot into holes in the figure's feet. I think the figure is cast in black and all other colours are painted. The paint application is neat and the gold wing symbol on the pistol is metallic paint. Mold lines are noticeable upon inspection across the top of the head and shoulders, on the sides of the backpack and running front-to-back on the sensor, however only the one on the sensor is obvious. The figure is cast from PVC and so thin parts will be prone to bending; on this figure it's the pistol's needle which is bent, but I suspect the sword on the Sister and Grey Knight, and the aerial on the Skitarii may suffer similarly. The figure has no articulation and no additional acessories.

Overall this is a nice gashapon figure, though, in common with all GW products in Japan, I feel it is slightly overpriced, both for what it is and compared to the local competition.

Thanks for the info, took longer to hear more about these than I expected.

Wonder how and when they'll be available elsewhere (the initial announcement did say they would be available worldwide, even if it also previewed a bunch of other designs).

Do these count as official GW miniatures? It would be ironic if they were usable in tournaments and other events

Well the painting make it looks way less appealing than I thought it would be. If I'm getting one, maybe I'll repaint it.

Guys...Gashapon are basically vending machine baubles, maybe equivalent to $3-5. They're bargain-bin style collectibles. I wouldn't worry about the paintjobs translating to larger things.

Indeed. While I have seen various gashapon toys useful for wargaming in various scales, nothing that comes out of them has a paintjob that can't be improved. (Except the pokemon ones)

Well, Turaxa's prediction on the Grey Knight's sword and Skitarii's aerial were certainly correct - apparently they couldn't find straight versions of those even for promotional pictures.

"These figures are intended to be used as decorations, and no in-game rules are provided." Aww.

These figurine never have a straight shaft bit, some of the more better series like Gundam Ensemble have a mix between flex plastic and hard plastic on the sprue, allow them to have straight weapon/shield and gun.

I'd let anyone who wants to use them as proxies go ahead. The 40k universe is vast and there ain't nothing that says the planet Chi-bi doesn't exist.

Looks like most of them probably could fit on a 32mm base, if the included one is around 40mm. Maybe finally found a good stand-in for a Sister of Battle Cannoness until GW can be bothered to release one.

At £3/4€, they at least serve as a practical "need to spend a tiny bit more to get free shipping" option, if you don't feel like getting yet another pot of paint.

It looks like they were clever enough to put them in balls so you can't feel which one is inside the package.

Don't let the guys at LEGO's collectible minifigures department hear about this.

Reading GW's pre-order description makes me think the ones sold through stores are not in balls though...

The real question is if they have product codes on the packaging that gives away which figure is in the bag like most blind bags these days.

Would be cool, I grabbed two...but i really want an Eversor.

Store guy said that ad far as he knows only one had be opened so far from their big box, so either there's a different amount of each or I might get really lucky, haven't opened them yet. Had I known that my clothes shopping would be so cheap I'd have gotten a few more and given doubles to my nephews for Easter

Edit: Oh, btw, they're packed further inside those plastic bags, so no feeling what's inside :/

Edit 2: I can't find a differing code on the packaging so far.
