Any easy way to get Leman Russ Plasma Cannons?
From what I've researched, the only real way to get them is with the Demolisher kit - is there another way? Perhaps I might be better off just converting my own?

You could try Warseer's bitz also its not hard to make plasma cannons.
I dont have picks but basically take corrigated cardboard and tear off one side this will leave a nice "ridge" line for the plasma part then just conver anything round and tube like with those on the side it looks decent.

Unfortunately I can't find Warseer's bitz... and even more unfortunately, my only option with the new Sentinels and those Plasma Cannons would be to buy the kits... and that'd be two kits per LRBT I have at the moment... not exactly economic for me. I may be better off converting my own, or buying Demolishers... Hmm.

i'd buy the demolisher kits and sell off the bits you don't need.
it might help with the cost in the long run.

Wait till the recut Leman Russ comes out - the Demolisher/Punisher/Executioner variant looks like it will come with options for Plasma Cannons and Meltaguns.
Alternatively, just buy Demolishers - you get a full Leman Russ with it and you don't need to use the Demolisher turret.

Strike trying to buy demolishers, the old one went out of production. I haven't been able to order them for a couple of months. Some shops may have them left. So find them now, or wait for the new kit.

I stand corrected then. I was told by my GW rep that they were out of them. Guess they just wanted to make an extra 10% from me when I have to special order them. Sigh.

You also get the mult-melta weapons for the sponsons in the demo kit.
AFAIK, it's the only way to get the plasma cannons these days.

I think the poster meant to refer you to the Warstore's bitz service, not "Warseer".

I cut the heavy bolters off of the sponson mount and used Space Marine plasma cannons (cut down and altered) glued/magnetized on instead. They look quite natural and I'm happy with the results.

Could you possibly post picks, sourclams? I was debating using SM Plasma Cannons from the Devastator kits, but I wasn't sure how they scaled up.

i noticed the other day that the regular heavy bolter sponsons for a leman russ, if you flip the upside down, kind of resemble a plasma cannon...
if you just change the front too look more like it and paint it up the right way i dont see any reason why they couldnt be suitable plasma cannons

Yeah I remember that conversation with krusty, just file off the bolter barrels and turn them upside down. If you paint the ridges, on the bottom/top of the sponson weapons, the color of your plasma weapons it's an effective way without having to buy more kits.

Got lucky and picked a few up at the local bazaar. The demolisher kit is the most natural way, but plenty of conversions look great as well.

I bought a demolisher and an executioner plasma turret from Forgeworld. I magnetised them so I've got both a demolisher with multi-meltas and an executioner with plasma cannons.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |
