So with all these lists with Hydra's in them are we all going the Forge World route? Or to put it bluntly is there a cheaper modelling alternative to the FW Hydra. I have looked at 1/35 Werbelwinds and other alternatives on ebay and other model retailers and they are not much cheaper or have size issues.

What is the most cost effective modeling alternative for the Hydra?

I heart SYR 8766

For all your bravado, if the US Army decided to invade, Wisconsin is it?, in force supported by a heavy bombing campaign for the month before, weeks of shelling from battleships on Lake Superior, and a full tank thrust (crushing the cows beneath the treads), I don't think that your .22 is going to make much of a difference really... Asmodai (my new hero)

At some point these sorts of decision-making skills lump you into the same camp as the Lehman Brothers, the White Star Line shipping company, and mothers who smoke during pregnancy.

It's actually pretty easy ; buy a Chimera then go to the local hobby store and look for 25mm 50mm anti aircraft emplacements.

Look for 1/35th scale I believe that is a close match.

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.

On the original topic...

I'll either use the gun arms from this happy fellow

Or these two massive gattling guns

That dread glued to the tank looks slowed. If you really want a good Hydra and don't want the FW one, you could just use some spare ACs from a dread or Exterminator.

Your Photoshop skills rival my own

not a bad idea, but I'm thinking about just ripping the back off a German Quad AA gun that I saw at the local hobby lobby earlier and using that on a Chimera Hull.

Would it look bad? Probably. But, I'm not completely sold on the Hydra just yet. If I use it and decide I like it, I'll just make it to where I can easily turn the Hydra back into a Chimera and get one from FW or one of these fabled plastic kits you speak of.

I am thinking that as the Basilisk is not so useful now with silly minimum range I might convert that. I'm sure my son has some old toy vehicles around I can rip up for the autocannons, will post pics if I get it made.

You can of course ignore the minimum range and just fire directly.

Luna... it does look slowed. It's a goddamn dreadnought sawed in half and stuck to a vehicle hull. Then there's the issue with the height; it's hard to block TLOS to it.

Well the dred was originally an ugly box to start with , take the armor plate off and replace it with
a normal platicard.

Hydra is just an big ugly box with 4 guns on it ( TLOS is just as bad )

At least it's a practical METAL BOX.
