A little bit inspired by Philip's ideas, this idea came as a result of my Word Bearers project (see the blogs here).

The original idea was to build a Drop Pod out of a beer can and use it for my Word Bearers.

However, at the moment I'm not even sure if I want to continue that project in that form (tempted to do Iron Warriors), and I want to build something that could potentially be cast.

I've also shrunk the idea, with this I mean I've been toying with the idea of drop pods for individuals, not whole squads. Hence the thing will be small, but big enough to carry a single human with all the needed equipment.

The model will be based on a Kinder Egg. Details will be added with greenstuff and whatever else I can get my hands on.

So far the plan is to construct one of them and see what people think of it. After that I'll try to make a few more "scenic" ones such as one that is opened up, or one that crashed into a wall or something.

I think going with the escape pod look is best. The question is do you want hatches or not?

and if it seems too confusing here is how it works.

@StubbyGB: I know that the Officio Assessinorum uses them for the Eversor Assassins. I guess the Inquisition and such might use them as well. Even so, the thing isn't going to be an exclusive 40k thing...

@tastytaste: I'm thinking of including a single hatch, not sure if it should be on the side or on the top of the thing. I think the top would be most fitting since those drop pods basically crash onto the surface and might end up in a thick layer of rubble around it, meaning that a side hatch might not be the smartest thing. So probably a hatch on the top and small thrusters on the sides to slow down the fall a bit.
