As a devotee of the Blood God, I feel it is important that I get a Tower of Skulls to dominate all of my Apoc games. With the new Planetstrike kits available for Preorder, I believe I have my chance! I haven't done any large scale conversions like this before, but I am interested in basing the tower on the new Chaos Bastion: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1430057&prodId=prod30001a

I may also try to use the Imperial baston, as it is $15 USD cheaper and is identical apart from one spiky bits sprue (which I have plenty of). I would love any tips anyone could provide me with for how to convert this into a Super-heavy Khorne could be proud of. Particularly, I am a little concerned about where I could obtain a very large quantity of assorted skulls, and a base for the tower to move. I would like to avoid using a baneblade chassis, because they are so damn expensive, but if anyone has a good suggestion nvolving one, I could probably figure it out.

One thing I am considering is giving the tower a bunch of defiler legs all the way around, so it can crawl across the battlefiled in a sinister fashion. Anyway, back on topic:

I like the shape of the bastion, but I am pretty disappointed in it, overall. It looks to me like they aren't even really trying. Chaos vehicle spikes? Really? Not only does that seem rather lame to me, but they just glued 'em on the top of the walls. Just set them there. Not integrated into the piece at all.

While I'm at it, I despise that Aegis Defence Line thing. Just ugly.

Basically, the shape of the bastion is the only one that will remain in tact. I want a huge heap of skulls on top, with all the appropriate guns and a considerably large amount of khornate gubbinz all over it. I do agree that it's a very halfassed release, but luckily, I have plenty of chaosy bits from my three land raiders and countless rhinos. They'll probably release something that makes it look really awesome - through FW

They probobly have skull necklaces at mall stands, or hot topic or something. Get a skull necklace, and cut off the skulls, voila! On another note, personally i think either tracks or being pulled by something would make it look best, i just don't feel like the legs suit it well for the blood god.

I think that bastion tower piece looks more like the classic plague tower shape.

For skulls, wait until Halloween and buy up all the skull rings, and such at your local $ store.

you could possible mount wheels or even Ork battlewagon tracks right onto the base of that bastion if you wanted to.

the chaos tower IS an imperial tower with a chaos vehicle sprue, and as a chaos player im guessing you have at least a couple of those. just buy an imperial one unless you wanna pay more for another junk sprue.

and even though I hate you for having me look at a picture of something from the fail that is WoW, that is a great idea. Just make sure it looks like a walking tower of doom, and not a tower that decided he'd had enough of that bull-s, and got up and walked away. (basically dont just glue on some crap legs. Make it work!)

I must respectfully disagrey, after all the brass scorpion is a Khorne super heavy I think it's a great idea, I'm making one aswell and I was also looking for a way to do this mines almost complete I just need to glue on some skulls and find a way to make it mobile, I took the hight road and used junk from my house, I used a bed raiser for the tower and sprayed it with a metalic red to make it look like the tower is bleeding, used some chaos spikes and so far I've been collecting heads from my bitz, gotta tellya love the idea about the defiler legs I might just do that myself, but if you wanna keep it low cost head over to your local hoby shop and take a look at thw ww2 tank models prolly get you a great set of treds for less then you'd think, and for the skulls yea go to party city and look at the holloween decor, good luck!

Well I will try to be as helpful as I can be with this Post. I am new to Dakka as well and I am starting to get my feet wet lol so here it goes.

If you are going to use the tower bastion you could just mock up a Plasticard or Foam core Chassis of sorts that you could like. That would help pull together the blank and empty bottom that you would have left. The reason I say that is because I like the idea of the Multiple legs. Kind of like, and this ref is weird lol, that episode of Courage the Cowardly Dog Show when the house up and walks away.

Now, as for the skulls. this is where is will get tricky or kind of expensive. I would recommend casting. Maybe go to the mall and buy a Skull necklace, which I saw in a earlier post as a suggestion, and try making a Cast of the skulls separately, or cutting culls from he spiky bitz sprue, and doing the same. Now what you will use for the medium... that is up to you.

Dakka_Dok - I think that is a good way to go, maybe use some green stuff and try to model a pile, or if fatal_GRACE is willing to spend the money just buy about 5 Skull Packs lol
