I wasn't sure what catagory i should post this in so i went for general, basically i would like your thoughts / answers and general advice re Darl Eldars .........

Please don't feel that you need to answer all questions - just the ones you can........

1. I heard that DE are a dying race - not enough players / interest in them - any truth in this??
2. If above doesn't apply then do you think there will be more model / rule support forthcoming - or as a race do you think they are complete??
3. How do you think DE stand up against the other races - what have your experiences been??

Optional - What would you consider a good 2k DE army to handle same sized random army - also DE's are they just about getting into melee asap with a bit of support from the back - or can you see another way of playing them??

Thank you

1: Plenty of Interest - not enough support.
2: I think Goodwin has sculpted a new range (rumors) and could be a very effective army with new rules.
3: DE are one of the best shooty armies (were) and have a nice variation/playability. They're NOT going to go toe to toe with CC armies, but they're also not built to.

They're a pirate army and should be treated as such - use movement/terrain to your advantage and don't leave units unsupported.

I've read plenty of BR from other DE players who are still very competitive with 5ed but it's also not a "noob" players army. That's a hard learning curve for a new player.

A good 2k DE is going to have ALOT of raiders/ravagers - your warriors are toast in hth so like I said don't leave your flanks/units unsupported.

my thoughts anyway.

Thank you for the reply and advice.

The only thing i would like to mention is on GW website under articles they have a sample army and from what i remember it invovled mounting troopes in raiders, charging enemy - off loading troops into CC with little mention of support other than ravenger / dark lances or did i not understand what they meant??

I woudn't follow the Tactics for GW playtesting. . . .

DE haven't received an update since 3rd edition (EARLY 3rd edition) and since have had some of their weapons rendered ineffective/not usable.

I love the Talos and it's abilities but it's kind of a poor mans Wraithlord - which in the end get's put down with the amount of melta's being taken in 5th ed armies.

So as it stands what are your tactics? You don't know your opponent or objective, you have say 2k - how does DE excel??

Speed.

I'd look in the BatRep section and search DE battles.

There are some pretty good DE players on the board.
