It is a mixture of 4 different flock/grass. One is GW grass, 3 other are from model railway flocks (I don't remember the exact brand). The flowers are from a model railway kit too.

I have the same model railway flower kit (you can see the white flowers used on the troops in my sig). Great stuff, thanks for sharing!

Really nice work on the camo too. How long would you estimate it took you from start to finish to do this platoon?

I'm moving this post to the painting and modeling forum so it gets more exposure too.

Thanks! I should have put this in the modeling section in the first place... I uploaded the pics to Dakka gallery too.

I painted these pretty leisurely while trying to come up with a way to do the camo right. I'm not all that happy how the camo looks, but this is the best my skill can do. I'm starting to paint a second platoon today. When it is done, I can say more accuratedly how much time it takes (first platoon + command team took about ten days - with total of 10-15 hours). I'm just not that fast painter.

In about a month there is a big multi-player mega-game of Flames of War and I want to finish my army by then. So I have a month to paint the rest of the force. I have to paint faster than I did with this platoon to make it!

We laughed at him, we leagued with him, old chum.

He wars on Death, for lives; not men, for flags.

Very nice oak leaf and pea dot camo. The basing is absolutely great. I love the flowers!

What sort of list are you planning on running with these?

I love them! Authentic camo and stunning bases. You've really done these justice and have something to be proud of!

On first look through I thought "since when did the Germans set up camp in an enchanted medow?" but, on second thought that is more to do with the lack of variety on most bases you see than any problem with your bases.

Looks great Hammer, keep it up.

Ok, now I want an army list for the faery-folk in FoW! See how the Panzers fare against a dragon...

Thanks.

I don't know if you have had a chance to read the SS-Wiking army list in "River of Heroes" (I don't know if you even play FoW), but basically it's a very mixed company of tanks and infantry. It got a bit of everything in it. I'll paint the infantry first and then "reward" the efforts by moving on to the panzers (panzer IV's and Panthers - platoon each).

I have 23 days to paint the whole force now... There will be a über mega-game which I'm attending with this army then. The final army will be whatever I get painted in time. I'm aiming for about 3600 points - of which I have painted HQ unit and the first infantry platoon! So there's a lot to paint yet.

I'm saving all the transportation (trucks and half-tracks) last as I can play without them if I can't finish them in time.

By the way I think it is a hilarious comment about the usefulness of 2iCs that your company commander and platoon commander both have names but, not your poor XO.

Actually, he does... I call him Obersturmführer Buchholz. He's my Iron Cross hunter. Since he's totally expendable, he usually goes to the front lines to die (and get that Iron Cross) with a panzerfaust in his hands! He even has a cameraman to film his heroic death for posterity!
