Subject: Sculpting a Tzeentch Herald. (no pics as of yet, sorry)

Decided not too long ago that i would start up a small Tzeentch daemon army.
Since there is no herald model ive decided to make my own.
Looks wise it will be like a larger horror (but not as plain)
I will try to decorate it with small pieces of armour and such to make sure it stands out more.
Height wise it will be roughly Space marine terminator sized (so a fair bit larger than the basic horror)
The only work i have done so far is a simple frame for it (using old sprues to make a rough stickman, minus a head)
I will get some pics loaded up a bit later on, but for now im waiting on the glue, once thats dry i can start to bulk it out and build a rough shape.
As allways with me, i tend to get lost for ideas when it comes to weapons.
I wanted to give him a weapon in his right hand to show some form of status other than his size.
Yet the only ideas i have so far are; Halberd, Sword, fireball and staff.
Does anyone have any other ideas?
His left arm will be pointing forward as if he were commanding his horrors.
Also, as a side note; It will be on a 40mm base since that seems about the only reasonable size.

I think it should be a bit more bird like, alot of stuff dedicated to the lord of change seems to be bird like.As for the weapon I think a sword covered in ruins and markings would be nice.

How about combining the two? So you have the large Horror thing, but also having some feathers growing or maybe even a bird's beak. If you are doing the horror thing, let there be some smaller (blue) Horror like creature sort of grow (or appear as if they are trapped underneath the skin) of the main body (Pink Horror).
You might want to check out Khabuldashudeth's work, you can find it here. Look for the posts on the bird like daemon!

Rather than going for a more formed and refined look i wanted to go for a very heavily warped look, like the daemon has just came from the warp, so swirling flesh (daemons have flesh?)
I wanted to make it look very close to the actualy horror sculpts, so along with the twisting and swirling slefh i wanted to have it look like smaller daemons trying to burst through him.
Ill have to draw up a few pics aswell for when i post the frame model.
The other thing i wanted was to make it slightly more muscle like than the basic Tzeentch daemons, rather than being scrawny and thin (allmost breakable) i wanted to give it a slightly more solid stature.
Runes will be made into the weapons (should be good practice in sculpting and painting) So they will feature in the model.
I was also thinking about adding a small set of horns to it, but i think ill wait and see how it turns out before i add those.
The other idea i was thinking of was a set of wings (counts as a disc)
Then i have a slightly more mobile herald, rather than being confined to his unit for safety.

Hence my suggestion of Blue Horrors sort of growing inside (or out of) the main body which is more like a giant Pink Horror. As if the daemon is pregnant with little blue horrors, but instead of a womb in the stomach it might have "wombs" all over the body.
I still think you might also want to look at the bird element, so maybe a feather here and there (more in the vibe of a plucked chicken, you know about to be cut up for cooking, a few feathers left) and a beak here and there.
Oh yeah, flames seem to be a Tzeentchian thing as well, what about some parts of the body being on fire or spouting out fire?
What kind of weapons are you going to give it?
You should really check the forum which link I posted earlier, more sculptors are always welcome to our little collective!

Ive currently got up the forum topic you have posted and im looking through it, there is some great stuff there.
Fire will also feature in the model.
Along the spine area i will do sort of a maine of fire.
The hands and forearms will also have flames on them.
I was thinking about a flaming weapon, however, with runes aswell it will end up cluttering it, so im not too sure yet.
As for weapons, it looks like i will be using either a halberd or a staff of some shape or form.
Ive got a Dark elf lance from the dragon rider model in my bitz box, so that may do the job.
Its fairly long, but i can cut it down, its also pretty thin, so it should fit the theme of Tzeentch.
Also, it has a ribbon around it, not suer what ill be doing with that just yet.

Are you going to be scuplting your own wings or buying some?
if you scult them are you going for the one large wing and another wing growing out of another part asymetrical morphing look or the standard two wings with one on each side?
oh and will it be pink or blue?

Sorry, missed out about feathers.
This will be my 1st sculpt, other than this ive only ever used green stuff to cover gaps and re-build damaged areas on models, so this will be my trial by fire so to speak. Automatically Appended Next Post: @Corpses:
I have a set of plastic dragon wings (from the previous elf dragon) that i have cut down for another model, but if i can adapt them to this model then i guess i will do. Automatically Appended Next Post: Anyway, im now off to make a start and bulk up areas, ill post my progress a bit later tonight on here.
Thanks for the ideas so far.

You could just skip the weapon and have the herald beating enemies with his flaming limbs

Or maybe it could have really long fingernails (claws?) which are on fire!
