I like it.

The spines sticking out of his back suggest that they may spring forward and impale you like a mousetrap. I generally don't dig on bioweaponry, as I think complex (read: mechanical) parts don't really "evolve", at least not to the point of storing plasma....even in the year 40,000 that seems a bit out there. (Consequently, 95% of my bugs are h2h). but the large scything talons sort of "forgive" that IMO....this is clearly a very evolved creature.

postpics when finished please!

I wouldn't say that a venom cannon or barbed strangler, or any nid weapon shoots plasma. The ones shooting venom, venom cannon hurr, shoot a highly corrosive venom that can deteriorate flesh and even inorganic metals. Venoms can contain enough acidic chemicals to destroy flesh.

"From the fires of Betrayal unto the blood of revenge we bring the name of Lorgar, the Bearer of the Word, the favored Son of Chaos, all praise be given to him. From those that would not heed we offer praise to those who do, that they might turn their gaze our way and gift us with the Boon of Pain, to turn the Galaxy red with the blood, and feed the hunger of the Gods."

Book of Epistles of Lorgar

Great pose, really great ink wash effects. The strange looking snow could be a result of pollution. Most Imperial hive worlds are barely inhabitable because of the acid rain.

C'est possible.

Back in the day, I seem to recall the old flavor text (2nd ed maybe) indicating that they shot a mixture of plasma and other nastiness, but it might have been changed recently. Regardless, I generally shy away from "shooty" bugs. It's a rare thing in nature, so playin a shooty bug army never appealed to me. Which isn't to say I don't have any, just no 'gaunts or warriors, or even my carnifax....all of them are h2h.

Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either a fool or a coward. Whoever cannot take care of himself without that law is both. For a wounded man shall say to his assailant, "If I Die, You are forgiven. If I Live, I will kill you." Such is the Rule of Honor.

Plasma may just be inept games workshop writers (my physics friends tear this game apart when it gets down to the nitty gritty) trying to come up with cool sounding things, as their actual designs/fluff are fundamentally flawed in many cases. They are artists after all. Considering even human stomach acid is concentrated HCl, and things like scorpions have stinging tails (just two of millions, nay, billions of examples), it is not inconceivable that a super advanced organism like the tyranids would be able to evolve something like 'plasma' sacs able to deteriorate inorganic and organic material alike.

That nid looks fantastic for just using washes - very effective. Try not to have too many colours going on the model, as it begins to strain the eye and takes away from the focal point of the model. Considering that, you may want to brighten the eyes, or the teeth or claws to draw the eyes.

Nuclear: Properly pronounced new-clear, not new-cue-lir. There is no 'u' between the c and l, so stop saying it because it just makes you sound like a dumbass. This includes nucleolus, and all other derivatives of the word.
