Probably gonna be updating with new questions because I recently got a ton of eldar, tau, IG and SM models (not to mention WD, paints and paint brushs) and most is from second edition and third and alittle from 4th and 5th but not much from the last 2, and I'm not sure what is OOC and what is still usable. Here's my first group to start it off:

-IG ice warriors of Valhalla metal.
-Eldar striking scorpion metal.
-Could I use Epic titan as a dreadnought? They're about the same size with almost the same looking wargear.

More to come but I still need to get some gluing done before I continue looking through the rest of the guys.

EDIT: Sorry if this is the wrong forum. couldn't decide between here or You make da call.

1: valhallans are still legal - check GW's collectors part of the store.
2: can be used, the new edition of them are the only ones for sale unless you wander onto ebay.
3: if it has what a dreadnought has then yes, size wise it should be fine.
i was actually thinking about doing this for my iron hands.

Valhallans are legal but difficult to find-ebay and collectors section. You can also use the heavy weapons from crapachans (unless they changed) to fill out your HW slots (with Valhallan guys.

Also
1. Steel legion guys, when painted similarly make decent plasma guys for your Valhallans if not enough. Vortroyans do as well with a good head switch (or shave off the hat).

2. Pig Iron makes excellent long coat troopers and heads as well.

Epic Titans might be a little small for a dread, unless you're talking warlord. I think
Forgeworld warhounds and reavers are excellent.

Didn't gamesworkshop make some british looking troops at one point ? I can't recall the name.

Praetorians, though I wouldn't count on being able to get hold of any. OOP and quite rare as I understand it.

So my Valhalla guys are rare? That's nice to know Also I think it says warlord on the box. It has a base about the size of a dreads so it should work well.

OK new batch of stuff. I think you can still use it all but not 100% sure:

-Eldar wild riders siam-hann (Anyone know what type of models these are?
-Tau commander shadowsun
-The old tactical squads from like 10 years ago.
-Do people still play epic because I have loads of mini tanks and eldar.
-Old vindicator (when they were metal)

Two other questions.
1. Do all assault squads come with both plasma pistol and boltpistol choices?
2. How long does paint last because I have the old citadel paints from when they used plastic bottles and also when they just started using glass.

EDIT: My Valhalla ice guys came with 10 models and a mortar.

Eldar wild riders siam-hann (Anyone know what type of models these are?
***those are jetbikes
-Tau commander shadowsun
***I think still very valid. If not generic commander
-The old tactical squads from like 10 years ago.
****Sure. A squad that is old to you is some new squad to me 
-Do people still play epic because I have loads of mini tanks and eldar.
****People play EPIC.
-Old vindicator (when they were metal)
***Its still a vindicator. Mine has a dragon’s head on the mouth.

Two other questions.

****Don’t know.
2. How long does paint last because I have the old citadel paints from when they used plastic bottles and also when they just started using glass
***Put water in and mix it up and test. I have some paint I found I had put away from 1992 that just needed some water.

I meant what are the wild rider guys called in the codex, or is that their name in the dex? Also are stealth suits still ok to use?

They are now generic guardians on jetbikes.

Stealth suits are still ok. I believe there is even a note on using the older suits with the newer suits in the current Tau codex.

OK I found a couple more things:
-Tin Eldar, It's like a robotic eldar
-I also found a metal ork robot thing

Are they usable for anything or just collector things?

The Tin Eldar is a Dreadnaught whch isn't used anymore. I miss my Dreadnaught. New model Wraightlord is used now but needs a babysitter(warlock). The Ork robot is a Ork Dreadnaught. Regular Dread had one heavy weapon and power claw. The Super Slaughterer had two claws and two heavy weapons. These models are like 2nd or 3rd edition rules figures. I am not an Ork player right now. Orks still have Dreadnaughts. Mostly Killa Kans. I know about the Eldar then Orks since I played them ten years ago and have returned to the game recently and have just revamped by Eldar army.

If they're the old round plastics with flip-top lids then they're probably fine. I have some of those from '90 which are still good.

Any screw-tops you have may be okay if you can get the top off!

The new flip-tops don't last at all.

Commander Shadowsun is still valid. Shes in the current codex. I wouldnt take her though. I prefer my tank hunting HQ team and my Horde slaughtering HQ teams

I too have a few of those old flip tp to paints and they are still good. The new flip top paints are crappy longetivity wise. Those old paints might have lead in them too as those old figures were lead.

I don't think you understand. I mean it's a 1 inch tall little robot thing. Also the Eldar robot is normal size and not a wraithlord (just found that I got one though.
As for how I got the stuff, someone was quitting the game and gave me some of his stuff. He's an awesome guy! Just found the bags that were filled with 2-3 squads of eldar troops and 2-3 squads of IG troops. The Eldar bag also had a wraithlord.

You mentioned something about epic which that little robot might be from. The normal size robot is probably a Ghost Warrior now called Wraithguard.

Pictures would be so much more helpful, though.

Of all my eldar minis from RT, ONLY the ghost warriors are no longer used as is (you could count them as wraithguard - just real short ones - I suppose. My old Spirit warrior joined my old dreads and became another Wraithlord (with the addition of a spare WL arm).

As to the others: The guard minis can still all be used as guard, there is no actual difference between catachan, cadian, tallarn, Valhallan, praetorian and mordian guard these days. All are still guard models. There are enough people still playing with them that they brought back some of their special characters from 2nd ed (Al'Rahem, Chenkov).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

I'll see what I can do with the pictures. I should be able to get them up later if I can find my camera.
I'll check the pictures in the codex I have to see what wraithguard looks like, and I also found a real wraithlord with a bunch of both plastic and metal troop eldar or wraithguard models.

Found what those two models are. One is called an ork robot and the other is an eldar tinboy. Googled it and found out what they were.

EDIT: never mind. the ork was an epic gargant and the eldar was a wraithguard that looked like a seperate model I once saw.

On a different note, I found some other models that I know are usable but just wanted to post what I found.

5 guardian defender models
4 guardian storm models (still looking for the last one)
farseer
3 striking scorpions (Going to use 1 as storm model and might sell the other 2 or buy 2-3 new guys to join the squad)
5 wraithguards
5 jetbikes
a falcon
a wraithlord
4 reaper models

These are all the eldar models I have so far and I wanted advice whether I should buy 2-3 striking scorpions to make a full squad or just sell 2 of them to make some spare change, based on what I have so far.

You can use ANY GW model from any era, as long as there's rules for that model. Models do not go 'out of date' unless rules for them stop existing. So the earliest, oldest, 1980s plastic predator model is still completely valid (even for tournament use) as long as it has the correct weapons and as long as the Space Marine codex features a tank called a Predator. Even if it's a different size and shape to the current model.

SO your jetbikes, old vindicator, old Imperial Guard, old Scorpions, old tactical squads etc etc are all completely valid.

'Counts As' stuff like using the old titan in place of a dreadnought must be agreed with your opponent.
