Hi guys, I stumbled over World in Arms the other day and it fit my needs perfectly. I had little interest in warhammer fantasy and even less interest in the hive setting of necromunda, so something that allows the use of 40k minis in skirmish is perfect.

Er, and for those that don't know, it's a pdf that references the free mordheim rulebook and adds onto it. Replacing a few rules to better suit ranged combat, and replacing the warbands with various armies from 40k, but limited to around 5-15 models.

Does anyone else play this?

Do you have a link? I might start playing, I might not. It just depends if I like what they've done.

I've hosted it on my website, looks like the game's home site is gone.

You can find it here:

Yes, I took a look at it and it has a lot of possibilities.

The one thing I noticed is a straight pull of stats from 40K but not a lot of room for growth like in Mordheim and Necromunda.

I have something similiar to this but the rulebook is 100% together all in one. The stats are based a little more similiar to Mordheim and Necromunda stats so you can have growth in a campaign.

We have 4 squads ready and are working on a few more.

The rulebook is over 200pages which includes rules, 4 squads and about 20 scenarios.

If interested PM me as it is in the Beta Stage.

I have a few groups around the world playing it and providing feedback.

Hello

We just finished our Beta Campagn and I have some small things to fix.

1) Play at least 5-10. Do a mini campaign if needed.
2) Provide clear feedback, don't blame the game on dice rolls or bad strategy.
3) Have an open mind.
4) We are looking to stay away from Mathhammer.
5) I will take all feedback but that does not mean something will change. It will be evaluated and playtested if needed to see if it fits.
6) I hope you understand #5 as if it was something you started you know what I mean.
7) Don't give to anyone else than your group as this is not finalized.
8) The reason for #7 is it would be unproductive at this time to release and get blind sided by small things.
9) If there is a question on the rules then just ask. If may need to be worded better but I know what we intended to play.
10) Join our Google Group (I will need your email address) and do all the things needed to sign in and create a profile.
11) Post battlereports on your game and how things went.

If you can do this please reply and I can send you a link and I will have you join out Google Group. If you run out of time or are not active we will make room for others.

Our group has played it in three 'campaigns'. Its pretty good for what it is, but there are some real 'wtf' type things that come up.

For example, there are no psychics in the game sans the mercenary. Eldar have no warlocks. Eldar can't have warp spiders, even though they have the deathspinner, since there is no warp jump generator, though I guess you could use a jumppack, which might not be available to them.

Any race can hire a light walker, which is brutal - Tau with a couple of battlesuits and a light walker.

Most races can take things like chainaxes, since they are 'common' wargear. Our Tau player outfitted his crisis suit with the heavy 3 gun (name escaping me), and a chain axe. Very fluffy that :-)

I think its a good start, but think each race should have its own wargear, and some of the effects for weapons are a bit 'odd' - pinning by sniper rifles is brutal. Melta weapons hitting every model in range along a line. Instant Death weapons (double or more) auto 'out of action' a model if they are HIT (not wounded).

I'm going to suggest to our group that we go back to Necromunda. While I like the idea of 40k skirmish, I'd rather counts as the models in Necro, where the rules, wargear, etc. all work well and are integrated.

Wow. that sounds a little unbalanced. I haven't actually read the rules but I'm not sure I want to now.

If you're casting around for a rules set to play pm me your email and I'll get you a beta copy of the rules set that I've been putting together with a buddy. It's a pretty standard Mordheim-40K conversion but it's solves some of the issues you mention above. All the races have their own wargear available, no light walkers, ect. We've got army lists for all the codexes done and pretty much every model on foot from each codex has been ported over. we're on Beta 4 at the moment, so the system is quite stable - we've moved on to the fine tuning stage.

Anyway, if you're interested the Beta 4 PDF will be available at the end of the week. And for anyone in the TO area who's going to Gamesday we'll be running these rules at one of the tables there if you want to try them out.

Cheers

He knows that I know and you know that he actually doesn't know the rules at all.

World In Arms was a direct port of 40K stats with Mordheim's gaming mechanics. There is little opportunity for growth and development. They did some interesting work though and did spend some time putting it together.

For pure 40K players it would be good as many can't imagine models with reduced stats and etcs but in Skirmish some things will need adjusted to "fit".

Hey Da Bank,

Yes, I should have clarified. I am talking about WIA with my comments. I'm in a holding pattern with your Beta (expecting a little one very soon).

My biggest gripe with WIA actually had to do with squad sizes. Armies like IG and such could easily reach around 20 models (I forget the actual maximums), which made the game 1) take way too long, and 2) feel like 40k. At those numbers, I'd prefer 40k. Realizing that in Mordheim skaven could reach 20 models, the income mechanic made that really tough. In WIA, it wasn't, since they doubled the income from the Mordheim charts.

Anyway, I like the work that Da Bank has done, and once I get some time again after the little one, I'll be in touch.

I think the Worldinarms has a nice start to it.
I read through it briefly...

My initial responce to this thread was: Necromunda, but Worldinarms does embrace more factions...prob. aiming for a wider group of people, so they can use the models they already have.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.
