Hmm not quite sure what to say ... started with gray since Germans are gray , trailed off from boredom and started painting them in UN color ( the white ones -_- )
then suddenly remembered people might not buy historical inaccurate paint job...... back to gray .
Unless someone can confirm German have white winter camo?
Any constructive criticism or which ever appreciated ( maybe it'll motivate me to finish it , and find a buyer! )

I have the Osprey book that shows color-plates of all the German uniforms from WW2 (got it when I was thinking of getting into Flames of War). I'll have to dig it out, but if you give me a day or two, I can probably confirm what the actual winter uniforms looked like...
Were you trying to go for a specific period of the war or front? A lot of the uniforms were different in the early war than in the later war, and on the Eastern and Western fronts...

Yeah those coats are the inspiration for about 1000 dead bad guys from assorted James bond movies.
I'll see if I can find any costumes online, I am sure you can find them. the WW2 German military had style and practicality. Too bad they had to get bitch-slapped.
Here is a few=

it depends on the front/period, like someone said earlier.
During the drive to Moscow, some of the Wehrmacht had pure white snow suits that went over the standard uniform.
The camo didn't really start hitting until around the Allied invasion of Italy, and that was the woodland splinter camo that they used. Although, the Fallschirmjager had camo jumpsuits they'd wear.

The Waffen SS were one of the biggest pioneers of "modern" uses of camouflage. The idea was adopted by the allies around the Normandy invasion but was mostly dropped due to the disturbing number of friendly fire incidents.
Back on topic though I've seen quite a few German models painted in full winter garb that was a kind of off white.
IMHO if your planning on just selling them i'd go with the generic grey color scheme as it will fit in the best of the largest variety of tables and is by far the most common paint style among german players I have met.

The germans did have white oversuits that would make them almost entirely white, there's a pic here.

As to the matter of the main thread subject, it's worth noting that Wehrmacht wore green/grey in the field, but the greenness of them quite apparent. I think it's sometimes described as 'reed green' It's certainly not the stone-grey colour as in hollywood films.

Nice looking germans. I like the weathering on the guns. And the snow on the ground looks great.
I agree with the boringness of painting the grey uniforms... That's why I went for SS unit. More colourful uniforms.
But your army will look great after you have finished it. Just keep painting!

Flames of War is 15mm, Malika.
Your paint job is quite nice Luna, but it isn't really historically accurate. The Germans did use white camo, but it was either like a white reversible parka or jacket, or a reversible smock that they wore over top of their uniforms. As far as I know they never issued actual white regular uniforms (like you have painted here), only parkas or smocks and winter trousers. White-washed helmets were common, as were white-washed tanks.
Also, you've painted the uniforms a pretty dark gray color. This is okay for the 8.8cm FlaK guns and the tanks (assuming you're representing a '42-ish force, or before) but German uniforms were never really that dark gray. The actual uniform color was Field Gray, which could actually have a lot of variation due to fading and differing production and materials as the war went on, but it was never really that solid of a gray color - it had a decent bit of green in it.
Here's a picture that shows you some of the variation - all of these uniforms are technically Field Gray, and it would be perfectly fine to vary the color a bit within the same unit.
The paint job is quite nice though, I particularly like the weathering. It wouldn't really take too much to make these guys a bit more historically accurate. Just some greenish field gray highlights and change the guys in white (unless they're wearing parkas or smocks).
There's a pretty useful guide to painting German infantry on Battlefront's website.
I hope some of this helps! Happy painting and it's always nice to see more Flames of War stuff (and historical stuff in general) on Dakka!
Oh, and one other nit-picky thing - I'd recommend you clean up your bases a little bit where the actualy infantrymen are glued on. Try to put some sand or something on and around the bases of the actual figures, so that it blends in better with the rest of the base. That will help a lot with the overall presentation (which is otherwise quite good). So yeah, just greenify your gray uniforms a little bit, lose the white except for on the helmets and smocks (if there are any....I didn't notice any smocks in this unit), clean up the bases and you should be good to go! I'm not sure if that red and black on the Panzer III is a historically accurate insignia (I can't recall ever seeing anything like it) but again, other than that the colors on the Panzer and the 8.8's are good.

@Hordini : Thank you , *screams in horror , so the german gray was actually closer to dark angel green? And the variations all looked brown beige tone , wow my color scheme is WAY off ><
@Hans_posthumus the snow is uncolored putty paste you can find in any craft store . They have the consistency of wet tooth paste and they dry solid .
I like it alot because i can apply it on with a tooth pick and work around their raised bases so it'll look more even.

Your observational skill is absolutely amazing , didnt think anyone would catch that >< . Basically i was gluing them to be firing upwards , but they seem to naturally
slide down ( see the other one too lol ) So i gave up fighting against gravity + glue and just let nature takes it course .... and it just fell down on that guy's head.

After digging through my book it looks like most of the winter uniforms were just the standard gray-green "field gray" of the regular uniforms. However, there were a few references to white winter uniforms for some of the operations in Northern Europe and Russia (most notably Stalingrad). They were more of a dingy off-white, rather than the nice bleached-white you have your guys in.
Overall, I would say that if you are painting these to sell, just keep them as they are. Like people were saying before, gray is the most common color-scheme for WW2 Germans, so they will most likely fit into more people's armies as they are. You could also certainly keep a few of the models white like you have and be "historically correct"; I would just give them a wash or something to dirty them up a bit.

You're welcome Luna.
Although I will say, Dark Angels green isn't really right either. You are honestly better off buying a bottle of actual "Field Gray" (Vallejo has a bottle of it, I'm sure other companies do too) and using that. You can vary the shade a bit by adding white. GW doesn't really have a good alternative, unfortunately. Do check out the Battlefront article, they'll give you a lot of good ideas for what colors to use.
Iceberg98, gray like that is not the most common color scheme for Germans, Field Gray is (which isn't really gray, more of a green gray). Unless of course you mean the most commonly mistaken color scheme.
The only problem with the white here, is that it is the regular uniform jacket and trousers that are painted white, when historically, it would have been a smock or a parka pulled over top of the regular uniform jacket.
Again though, the paint job itself is quite nice. I'm being nit-picky here, but I'm trying to give you a realistic taste of what you'll be looking at if you enter the historical gaming community.

That is what I meant... If you look at my post, I noted that the standard uniforms were a green-gray "field gray". Most people, however, tend to instantly think of "gray" when painting German troops. In this regard, keeping the models gray would probably fit into a lot of people's armies, even though they may not be entirely accurate. Also, most of the winter uniforms were indeed a "smock" over the regular uniforms, but there were also occasions where an actual heavy-weight "snowsuit" was worn instead... in either case though, they were a rather dingy off-white.

Part of the common color confusion arises because a lot of German equipment and some uniform items in the early war period was colored some variant of Grey. While the M35 field blouse issued to the common soldier was Field Grey, the trousers were manufactured in Stone Grey until 1940 and many Soldiers continued to wear them until they wore out. Helmets, gas mask containers, mess tins, and the canteen cup were sometimes Slate grey, Field Grey, or even Olive colored. Officers and specialists had to buy their own uniforms and the coloring of these was sometimes a shade off from the regulation.
The official shade of Field Grey itself changed at some time during the war. Earlier war uniforms were much more grey and late war uniforms are very green in appearance.
I have to agree with Hordini in regard to the white uniforms. I've never seen the regulation uniform in white though by the second winter in Russia the Germans were equipping some troops with a white overgarment. I seem to recall something similar for a few of the units that were involved on the Western Front in the Ardennes Offensive as well. Oddly enough, in the early war period some troops in the Mediterranean area of operations were issued blouses that were very light colored and they nearly turned white after being bleached in the sun. These looked odd with grey helmets, stone grey trousers, and dark boots.
