Hi Guys pretty new here and im just pondering on army decisions,
Im 13 years old and i have around 500 points of Orks but tomorrow or very soon im going to get about 500 points of tau i also own a CSM Codex which was given to me by a friend.
The decision has come to max out my orks or the tau or both or start a fresh with some CSM or a new army entirely.
Advice on armys you think would be good for a new guy to actually gaming.
Love to hear from you guys

Somewhere.

It depends on exactly what you want to do. If you're happy with 500 point games them having several armies to do it with is fine, but if you wanna move up to larger scale battles then I suggest you focus on one army and build it until you're happy with it.

And this is the guy whose building four different armies all at once. Doing more than one can be overwhelming, but I have trouble working on one project for too long.

Stick with Ork & Tau, sense you have the models already. Play a handful of games against your friends with both, and see if one has a style you greatly perfer. If so, go for that one, if not, you could always collect both roughly evenly.

I think that about covers it. For now.

And also as a reply to the other post which i missed as i replied
the problem with my gw is every guy my age collects SM and it gets quite irritating
and tbh im not sure if i fancy a game against the staff as i dont get along with one of them who seems to play most of the time.

Play a couple of games at 500 points against friends.
One of the two armies will feel better than the other as far as a personal fit.

Either you'll like sending hordes of big strong tough orks at the enemy or sniping him with your japanese aliens. Not much of an in between there.

None of us can tell you what kind of army your going to enjoy modeling, painting & playing. Read some fluff, build some models, play some games and see which one grabs you. If you do want to do multiple armies, around 2000 is a good spot to aim for before switching.

And no, necron arn't going to be Squatted.

I don't even think there's a date planned for a new necron release. If you're a gambler, feel free. But honestly, their codex is so limited in terms of viable options, I really, really wouldn't do it.

And yeah, you really have to limit yourself to finishing armies before starting the next one.

Okay but do other people agree with me saying that
some armies dont have many models at all so theres no vary throughout the army two armies spring to mind when i think this and that is Necrons and Tyranids.
Whats are you veiws?

As has been stated before, choose the army that feels right. Multiple 500 point armies are really nice for combat patrol-type games, and the hobby will never get old with so many armies and tactics, but if you're going to expand multiple armies, keep cost in mind. GW minis are hardly cheap, and if you have a budget anything like mine you won't be able to have three or four 1500 point armies.

It all depends on your preference; I like smaller-type games, such as combat patrol, and I delve a little into the world of kill-team. If you have the money and the dedication to see a 1500+ point army finished, then go for that.

I'd disagree that 'nids don't have much variety. They have a unified look, but models like 'fexes and zoanthropes are pretty unique looking among the range.

Also, I cannot believe that someone quoted Margaret Thatcher in their sig. Ugh.

Aye I'd say stick to both your Tau and Orks first, you don't want to overwelm yourself with too many things to do if your just starting. Trust me 4 armies at once is a handful !

Tau, Space Marines, Dkok (IG) and Kroot mercenaries it's alot to handle

The bigger games are better in my opinion so working your way up to 1500 points will get you some good games.

Here's one word that's good for everyone your age: FOCUS. You seem to want to focus on something and that's wonderful. I find that people who branch off into a lot of things never really get their grounding and end up getting bored after a bit. I'd agree with the others: Focus on one army after you've played small games with what you have and have figured out what kind of playing style suits you best.

Go down to your FLGS and flip through the various codexes. It's likely that one will appeal to you over the rest. There may be a couple of contenders, but if you make your decision based on how the army feels you'll probably end up happiest.
