Hello,
I'm currently making plans to start sculpting miniatures and possibly getting them cast and up and sold. I plan to improve my sculpting by working on a number of different products so I'm starting this thread to hear any ideas of what models you would like to see sculpted. The purpose of this thread is to find out what models there are currently a demand for.

So please, list any models that you feel are missing from warhammer 40k or warhammer fantasy or would like to see better represented. I am also planning on making an army of my own that will be completely sculpted and I may release models for an army line. Would anybody say that there is a demand for hrud or space rat models?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks

Lucas

What about civilians for a sci-fi looking city? They would make great objective markers for Guard/Marine
armies!

Some giant bones like in Pitch black "space-elephant" graveyard would make really kool objective markers, or small buildings. Pretty easy sculpt too, just make sure to give the skulls more than 2 eyes

Yup, too soon

I agree that some sci-fi civilians would be cool. Some people that look like they are trying to survive in the 40k universe but are not in the military.

I would like to see more empire and brettonia wfb figs that are crossovers into real historical. many of the models used to be like that from gw, but they've been getting away from that in recent years. The empire especially has been getting wilder and weirder looking and less like their real historical counterparts. If you can do that, I'd be interested.

I would buy hundreds of Pre-Hersey SM helmets if you can make decent ones. I really like the look of the knight style armor and all of GW's specimens are pretty bad..

More tech looking IG bodies.

Carapace armored legs that fit a cadian body.

Empty arms that you can attach a weapon to with out a lot of cuting. IG.

Civilians is a good idea... even a civie on a spit for orcs

larger sized las guns, differnet sniper rifles.

Variation of the broadsides rail guns, (both shoulder mounted and using both arms )

Better variation of the pathfinder rail rifle GWs sucks IMO.

suspensor units for heavy weapons.

A variety of swords not attached to arms, scabbrded and bared.

small engines for conversion work.

Have more ideas but won't threadjack

Thank you for all of the replies so far. I'm reading the thread over and trying to see what would be popular and cool to sculpt.

I'm still looking for more suggestions so please keep them coming. At the moment I'm not looking to make individual bits for conversions so please suggest whole models. Also please keep in mind that I can't sculpt exact Gamesworkshop models because that will violate their copyright so please suggest generic stuff.

I do like the idea of civilians and a lot of people seem to be interested in those. I was wondering though, what would people like to see in terms of daemons that they could use with the daemon armies.

Thanks

O H I am in the Webway...

I'll suggest some more:

Different Space Marine helmet styles (check out MK8 armor also, I would love an army of these guys)

For Chaos Daemons...

DAEMON PRINCES! They are all dumb looking atm.

New greater daemons! Some guy made a GD of Tzeentch and it was like a whirlwind of fire with people... it was absolutely amazing. You can be so creative with Daemons. So like cool Greater Daemons / Princes would be my main thing for these guys. The troops are fine TBH.

Another big suggestion would be Skitarii and Mechanicus soldiers.

I want to see someone make interlocking plastic terrain pieces. Not like FW and their $80 trenches but something along the lines of a few pieces you can use to make anything from half of a building or a full building with 2 stories and an open top.

It would be like super legos but for awesome people.

But if you want to cast actual minis them i don't really have any idea that are not for bitz =/

meh, Forget jungle fighters im talking Cadians.
Also the horribly done/overpriced ones floating around the net....... DO NOT use those as insparation. They look as out of place as the "Ultra TiT" Marine conversions.
(Sorry to any Females here, dont mean this to be offensive)

If you could show a bit of your concept art and previous sculpts I think we could narrow down what you could do well. If your a professionally trained sculptor with many years of experience disregard this statement.

Guns and weapons are always a good sell. Make them relatively universal so they can be used in more than one army. I would keep well away from any "faux" boltguns or anything, just to bring some new flavor to the hobby in general. I love the idea of knight styled armor, mainly because their are so very many ways to design super awesome power armor.

I really think female IG bitz would be pure win. Ive seen thread upon thread of people trying/wanting just that. Staying on the IG cool stuff, something to use for Necromunda would be cool. That game is pretty damn cool(with some minor rule fixes) but the old school minis are just terrible. I think everyone makes their own anyways lol
