Is the only way to get a model with a Melta gun to buy the 2 model metal blister pack that has 1 melta and 1 plasma for $15.00? Are there any plastic model sets that have Guard with Melta guns?

Thanks.

The catachan command box set has them as well and they're not attached to the arms like the Cadian set. I believe the old SW sprues had one on them. Other than that you're on your own unless you go with a bitz company.

new space marine sprues have them, as well as you can order a blister pack of 5 from GW. it used to be $6, but I think it went up recently.

You still just get one per box set. However, thanks for pointing out the Space Marine bitz. 5 Metal Melta guns for $6.60 solves my problem.

Gracias.

You can order plastic melta guns from the Black Templars sprue from most bitz websites. I ordered a ton from www.apocabitznow.com with no issues. You can also probably find a few bitz sites selling them from the command squads at this point.

Forever alone

The metal Cadian Special Weapons blister has a meltagunner in it. A bit expensive though.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

What to do about left hands though? I have loads of marine meltaguns spare but all of the shooting left arms for cadians have no hands (because they're moulded onto the lasguns)

Just go to the GW website. They sell 5 meltaguns on the sprue for only $6.60. Use a modeling knife to cut the hands free from the other arms or something (that's what I did).

You can use the grenade launcher left hand to hold the side of the melta.

You can also convert flamers or GLs. The cities of Death factory uses metla-like nozzles on the half walls. if you can get some of them from a buddy you cut them off, mount on a GL or flamer and you're good.

If you don't want to go the grenade launcher arm route there is an empty left hand bit on the Cadian sprue (if you have Cadian bits that is). I was using this for Plasma and Melta guns, but I ran out of the open left arms so I'm going to the grenade launcher left-arm for now.

Interesting, thanks. The empty hand + GL arm gets me two per squad box. Still need another one.

(I'm doing an all vets force and I'm seriously considering going Elysian just because they have empty hands and easily available special weapons)

Theres always one empty left hand on a guardsman sprue, but they're pretty easy to convert. Most WHFB players should have some useful left hands/arms as well, just scrounge a few.

Here's how I did mine: (flamer + COD Manufactorum nozzle, like KidKyoto said)

If your going to order the 5x melta blister make sure to order it from your local GW retail or your FLGS if they do the bitz orders.

7.00 shipping on a 6.50 blister is a little insane. I just ordered three from a local GW and the shipping was free if I pick it up at the store.

I have a couple of left over Multi-melta bits from the Immolator sprue. I think if those are cut off and cleaned up there is another 4. I like the idea that commissarkhaine had with adding them at the end of the cadian flamer. I'm going to try that.

Call me fancy, but I ordered all mine from FW, since I was doing the Respirator upgrades anyhow. Just as expensive as the GW metal ones, but much cooler looking, imo. I needed Plasma, too, so it was a bargain.

I can't exactly tell, but did he use the backpack from the Cadian vox-caster? I think that would be better than having fuel tanks for sure.

@commissarkhaine: Could we get a picture of his backpack?

Ebay also is a good place to look. I've dealt with "hoard o' bitz" on there and been VERY happy. Also should mention warstore.com sells bits too.

KidKyoto: Most welcome, enjoy the combimeltas!

Tanus: thanks!

Barlio: I used several different things for backpacks, since I like the idea of veterans 'acquiring' their specials instead of them being handed out to them.

Here's a painted pic of three backpacks:

The left one uses an old plastic handflamer (right side) and some random plastic stuff; a piece of antenna and some plasticard IIRC; the middle one uses a shaved down comms pack (not nlike I'll be using a vox anyway...), and the third one a shaved down SM backpack. I've also used half a chaos vehicle smoke laucher, which looks a lot like two fuel canisters if placed properly . If someone wants I can post pic of that one as well.

Yeah I'm definately going with the vox backpack. I have a bunch that are not getting used and it looks great as a melta pack.

Thanks for the conversion ideas!

You're welcome! A little rundown on the components:

- exhaust from COD manufactorum
- Ye olde guardsmen bits
- Flamer arms
- vox backapck
- I used a bit of wire from an old headphone that had broken down for the tube, and some plasticard tubing to make it enter the bacpack.

Here's how I did it:

- remove the fuel feed and the pipes + exhausy, but keep the bit where the handle goes on (there is tubing behin that, but remove it as well). Glue this back on, straight to the flamer body.
- add in the exhaust from a COD manufactorum, and the meltagun itself is ready.
- I removed the antennae and the handles from the vox backpack, filed the bit where I wanted the ppower cable to enter flat, and then added a small bit of tubing to have somewhere to put the power cabling in to.
- Pose the model properly, attach the backpack, and add a power cable from whatever you like.

One meltagunner, lots of poses possible!

For mine, I just hacked off the grenade launcher barrel flush with the first support ring (where the Cadian has the handgrip) and then glued a melta barrel on (just like the flamethrower conversions). The main reason for this is that I actually planned to use the flamer bits as well.

For the melta barrels, just take a plastic multimelts leftover from a vehicle kit and slice it down the middle (between the barrels). When gluing, just turn the flat spot under so it isn't showing.
