Meganobz VS Sm terminators,if the sqauds are evenly matched it's basicly a big punch up,SM have the higher IN so that helps 'em a bit,but with the meganobz having more wounds & more attacks they can hold their own very well,at least in my experince.
As for plastic Meganobz, that would be cool, but I wouldn't hold my breath,I've been wishing for plastic dreads & killa kanz since 3rd ed and still no luck.

If you cybork their bodies then they are pretty evenly matched because they are going last with termies. Only problem is you are spending a lot more points for your nobz vs the SM. You are also are moving slower and your extra wounds will not help you from PF and Thunder hammers

True, that's why you upgrade one of them to a painboy so they have feel no pain. (Just imagine how much weird crap a mega-armored painboy would have, it'd be like a walking mad scientist's laboratory!)

They're no good without a trukk or battlewagon (preferably the latter) due to S&P, but they're much tougher than Termies, with access to cybork bodies and Feel No Pain and they have more wounds.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

I don't think Cybork bodies is worthwhile; 5+ doesn't hit often enough to make it worthwhile.

If you want an Ork answer to terminators, two easy options:

1. Ghazghkull on the Waaaugh! with a 2+ invulnerable save and 7 powerklaw attacks
2. A unit of Burna boyz with 3 power weapon attacks apiece.

Uh, assuming Powerfist/Klaws all-around. CC simultaneously and both sets of armor count for nothing.

Sorry, Painboys not allowed in that unit.

Watch out for the Iron Halo.

Meganobs are too damn slow and Ghazghkull on a WAAAGH!!! will do the job right. Just have a trukk to get him there (Filled with regular support Nobs to attack another group of Termies assuming one is close by).

I can only see Meganobs being used to draw fire actually as Nobs can do just about everything as well or better (with Painboy and Mek w/ KFF or Cyborks).

Umm, ya'll are mixing up rules for Meganobs and Nobs.

Meganobz have PK's, so Initiative don't matter, get no Painboy, no Feel No Pain, no Cybork Body.

Termies win this fight because of their 5+ Inv. (and of course if they have SS's).

So, fight Termies with da Boyz, and use Megnobs to destroy any and every vehicle they can get their Klaws on.

To expand on my statements. Meganobs are so tough and imposing looking that your opponent has to deal with them. On a battle wagon they'll move fast. An expensive tactic and one I won't try.

Regular Nobs can cost as much or more with the right options/combos and be tougher still (also having a better than fair chance against a squad of Termies). Especially if you ensure they are all outfitted differently to take advantage of wound distribution rules. Something Meganobs cannot do. Nobs are the ultimate, customizable hardcore unit in the Ork list. Meganobs are fluff.

Don't misunderstand. I love the models, I have several new and old style Meganobs. It is very rare for me to ever use them except when I'm in a weird mood during a friendly game or to draw fire in a very small game. The sight of them tends to freak out inexperienced non-Ork players a bit (especially if they're familiar with older editions of WH40K) but in reality (5th Ed.), they're not very effective.

Grotsnik gives them Feel No Pain and if they're in a transport, his Rage rule doesn't matter.

Maybe, but I still say Nobs with options are the better (and more versatile) way to go. Even against Termies.

They are what they are.

Mega-Nobz are good, klanky and scary. Their main advantage tends to be that they're a very elite unit in an army full of cannon fodder. One of their biggest strengths is that a good many of the things which are great against Boyz come up short against a 2+ armour save.

In terms of effectiveness, they certainly hit like a tonne of bricks. Their good strength, high attacks and power klaws do a pretty good job on close combat. Gear them up with Kombi-Skorchas and they can dish out a lot of wounds before a charge. You can also amp up their effectiveness by sticking Mad Dok Grotsnik with them and giving the Mob some mobility.

Against Terminators though, it comes down to some gear and luck. As folks have pointed out, the extra wound doesn't do much against Power Fists and Thunder Hammers. The 5+ invulnerable save at least gives the Terminators some more survivability. If the Terminators win combat, chances are, the Mega-Nobz will likely run. The Orks' survivability is pretty heavily dependent on getting the charge in and being able to flood the Terminators with wounds during the shooting phase. That and the dice of course.

As much as I gripe about the models when I paint them and wish they were bigger, they are quite nice and menacing looking.

I feel it worth pointing out that according to the GW F.A.Q. (For the Ork Codex) Grotsnik's vehicle must still move directly towards and as fast as possible to the closest enemy so that he (Grotsnik) may disembark and charge.

So, no, putting Grotsnik on a vehicle does not really cancel his Rage rule.
