I need to rework my BA army and here is an idea I have to do so.

I am thinking of going with a mostly assault sqd army,

1xVet Assault SQD w/Dante
2xassault sqds in rhinos
1xDC in rhino w/ chaplain

1xtact sqd in rhino

2x attack bike
1xLS
1x baal predator

the tactic behind this army idea is to get in the opponents face as quickly as possible with as many assault marines still alive as possible and use the tactical marines to provide fire support and hold points.

With BA overcharged engines and Vet Assault Sqd and Dante with shields and jump packs I should be able to move fairly quickly.

With the AB, BP, and LS I should be able to provide all the FS I need and with the power fists and thunder hammers I will hopefully be able to handle vehicles.

Any suggestions or thoughts?

thanks in advance.

If you want to get there as quickly as possible, it's not in Rhinos, even with overcharged engines. It's with Jump Packs.

I wouldn't take a Rhino with the Tacticals. A Razorback is more useful. Combat Squad them, leave a shooty contingent back on your objective in objective games.

I think you either go all jump pack troops or all rhino rush. This will give you strenght in multiples. I also wouldn't bother with a one off tank. Take at least two for redundancy. Ditto with speeders if you even take them as attack bikes give you more for less. Good list if you want to play friendly fluff games. If you run all j-packers include Lemartes with Dante, if you do the rhino ruch bring Corbulo. Not very competetive overall.

At 2k my friend runs a pretty successful list that consists of:

Dante with honour guard, banner
DC x10

MM dread
DC dread

3x melta bikes

3? or 4 assault squads with rhinos

3x baal predators

Corbulo

Strat, corbulo sits pretty in a rhino and hangs by dante. Dante+Corbulo combine to give -1WS -1BS to your opponent, furious charge, and preffered enemy to nearby friendly units. It is a VERY in your face army, with PFs in the assault squads to help the melta bikes with AT. a few assault squads jumping down your throat at +1S +1I and rerolling misses, when you are -1WS, is NAAAASSSSTY.

Being fully mechanized also lends this list a lot of survivability while crossing the field. I have tried focus firing the DC, Corbulo's Rhino, and Dante's squad on different occasions that i've played him, but whatever gets through just overwhelms what I have on the board.

For example, I had killed everything he had except for 1 assault marine, and 1 DC. They reached my table edge and killed off 3 vet squads on my side of the board (I always seemed to run in MY assault phase, go figure). This allowed him to capture my side of the board with 1 man, while running the DC back across the board, surviving 2 rounds of lascannon fire from a vendetta and contest his own objective with 1 DC on the last turn of the game. arg.

Obviously not a typical result, but it demonstrates the resiliency of the list.

Gwar: I'm going to quit while I can.

Meh, close enough

He doesn't run a chaplain with his DC?? I thought they headed right for the nearest enemy without a chaplain?

but that does look like a decent list. I am thinking something similar, but maybe replacing the dreads with something else or putting them into drop pods... They are just large targets otherwise

Corbulo provides the same immunity to the black rage as a chaplain

Ahhhhh I see that now. I will have to mess around with AB I use Lemartes right now and like him so far.

Any BA list that doesn't field a good number of Vet Assault squads or Honor Guard squads, is just not as strong as it can be.

Vet Assault Squads and Honor Guard squads are the best deal in the list, by far.

rhinos are the way to go over jump packs. I also run my DC in a rhino as well.

I Was looking at the vet assault squads, but to field one in an 1850 list I would probably not be able to field 2 Assault SQDs, I will look at it though. I am planning to have a honor guard with Dante though.

I have heard two different things. One person said I should filed some in some outside of rhinos and others say just drop all the packs and put all the assault SQDs in Rhinos.

Also if I went all assault SQDs, rhinos and Baal predators would I have enough to deal with Armor?

melta bombs work? or melta guns as well

3 melta bikes (not squadroned) and meltra dread should do the trick. Just run (i think?) pfs on the sargents, and remember to put dante's perdition pistol to good use

This is one reason why tactical squads are better... They can take meltaguns.

not planning on taking a dread, so I will have to work with 2 bikes, meltabombs and PFs and maybe a tact squad with melta.

Only playing an 1850 pt league trying to stay within that.
