What really scares the Snotling out of me is that there might actually be people who read the crap posted on that site. I think the the blogger is some psychotic conspiracy theorist that lives in the basement of some building eating cans of green beans that where bought in the 60's because that was the last time this blogger trusted the "outside". It really is sad that some people are like this.

And it actually was rather funny that the blogger kinda proved that this game isn't the only source for violence when he/she/it made that final post/attack against the adult gamers.

I read this thing before, and honestly, it seems more like a thing talking about our supposed death at the hands of the children, which will happen with or without 40K around, because honestly, cartoons are violent to the extreme, videogames can be taken too seriously, and children are supposedly too stupid to believe this crap.

Frankly, given the current state of society, any activity that encourages children to do the following things:

Read
Write
Add up (and in some cases even multiply... )
Build/Paint (generally be arty and creative)
Socialise (often with people outside of their normal age/peer group)
and NOT sit in front of the fething TV or hang around on street corners...

should surely be praised for its attempts to avoid the collapse of civilisation?

True that. It takes peoples minds of real world problems. Any dopey idiot who thanks that warhammer 40K is dangerous to the children's mind only needs to look at the model gule. That stuff is super strong smelling.

And why does warhammer 40K gets such disregard from her? She never seen grand thief auto?

The original page was pretty badly researched - I doubt the new page will be any better.

Of course there are good and bad sides to 'gaming and children' debate.

The good points are well-stated - the encouragement on reading, maths and arts, not to mention a background in which the protagonists have incredibly questionable ethics is all good for youger players.

On the other hand, we ARE glorifying war. It's a wargame. I don't think this is an inherently bad thing (and GW do a good job of describing the horrors of the battlefield) but I can understand that it's something some people would be shocked at.

However, if this is your agenda, there are much bigger issues to write a page about, such as violent video games - a much more penetrating and popular market.

The original page took just ONE aspect of the game (a race of genetically engineered hypno-indoctrinated religious fanatic killing machines) and sought to convince people that THIS was what games workshop was promoting. I think GW do a good job of showing that the ethics in the Space Marine background are NOT to be followed. You're meant to enjoy playing them (like you enjoy playing the bad guy) but you're not meant to agree with their politics...

She failed to mention the (equally important) army of regular guys who have to live through the horror of 41st M war, or the army of friendly blue aliens who all work hard to make their empire a happier and more technologically advanced place, for example....

This is a very good point. All wargames provide a niche for many gamers, and in doing so have a effect on the abilities of that person. I have no problem with video games, but consoles were never my thing, and computer games tend to drastically effect my ability to not scream and make loud shouts into a headset half-way across the world. Personally the only thing better than WH40k as a hobby is learning how to pilot a mech or shoot zombies, you just can't beat these "tutorials of THE FUTURE".

Personally, I think that at best children should have the following statline:

BS: 0 (can't have kiddies with guns!)
STR: 2
Tough: 2
Wounds: 1
Initiative: 2
Ldr: 4
Sv: 6+

Roasting one over a fire should give +1 victory point.

I think ArbitorIan hit it right on the head. I honestly hope the person that wrote that garbage actually READS your post and thinks on it. Sure this game is based around horrifying war, but lets be realistic. Its so far in the future that pretty much everything in this game, is fake. Sure we have tanks, but in 40k we have tanks that have palaces ontop of them. They are like submarines, but land based. The only army in the entire game that COULD be real is the IG. And thats one army.

Wow... what a complete tool. If this guy ventured out of his basement into the Sci Fi section of any book store, or heavens forbid and comic book store, his head would explode. One could write just as serious sounding and passionate blog on Loony toons or Tom and Jerry cartoons from 20-30 years ago or longer.

All of that crap that was supposed to rot my brain never took. I want my brain rotting action now damn it! I listen to heavy metal in all its forms, I played D&D amongst a plethora of other RPGs, I played video games until my eyes bled, I've collected/played WH 40K (WHFB for a lil while as well) for over a decade and all I have to show for it is a damned engineering career, a wife, a kid and a cat! Seriously I want a freakin refund and an apology. My brain should have been rotted years ago.

Maybe I missed the fine print where it said I needed to be a mindless idiot who can't seperate fantasy from reality and had no motivation or ability to make up my own mind and drive my own path rather than let others do it for me and just follow by example for the effects to be rendered.

With all of the artwork and registered trademarks brandied about in there, his retraction was probably prompted by a cease and desist order.

Except that that it's still up so I it's only a matter of time before the new one goes down too. GW no likey people defaming (is this the right word? I don't know because I play war games and therefore don't think) their product.

This person mentions someone having their email address. Does anyone here have it that I might speak with them, and try to see what makes them tick?
