Radagrad looks pretty nice to me. I've been on a Deadzone kick recently-- mostly Forge Fathers, but I have lots of unpainted Marauders as well. Maybe I'll pull some of those out next.

Now showing more Samurai Marines, Bad Squiddo Amazons, and an Oldhammer Chaos Thug!

Painting total as of 3/28/2024: 21 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain

Painting total for 2023: 79 plus 28 Battlemechs and a Dragon-Balrog

I haven't been able to do much this past week. My house had water damage that needed to be repaired in tge room where you do my painting. So, that left my painting stuff inaccessible for a full week. Now I have Jury Duty, so I wasn't able to post new pictures this morning of the figures I completed over the weekend. So, please make do with the cell phone pics of the first of my Custodes Wardens that I completed.

[/url

Since Highlord Tamburlaine painted his Custodes first and did them in their standard colors, I had to do something to differentiate mine. I certainly couldn't use the same standard colors. I liked the scheme for the Shadow Keepers a lot, plus their fluff is interesting. It won't show up in my photos at all, but his armor is not actually black. It's a very dark gunmetal. When the light catches it just right, you can see the metallic sheen. It looks neat in person, but I don't think I'll be able to capture the effect in a photo.

Wow! That's great!

The Custodes look so much better when they're not caked in gold.

I really like how they look in black. From what I've seen, they look really good in white, too. Here's the other two with the guy I'd already finished.

I should have their last "trooper" and their Shield Captain finished tonight. Then I need to take some individual shots.

Now, somewhat random, I painted a lone Lamenter Primaris Marine.

This is the one that was included with the Getting Started with 8th Edition book. I've always liked the Lamenter scheme, so I thought I'd challenge myself with painting it. It's not the best, but that's because there's a fair bit of freehand to do on him. That checkerboard should pad sucked to paint.

Well, it looks good. So does the freehand emoji chapter symbol. I'm also impressed with the solid, rich yellow. How did you achieve it?

The Custodes look great in that color scheme, but like the villain from Hudson Hawk, I find GOLD will always be GOLD.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
May steal the scheme for some Menoth guys, though.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Hypothetically, since I never actually paint anything.

That Lamenter looks amazing! Great job there.

The trick to painting yellow is similar to the trick to painting black or white, don't actually paint those colors. The color I used is actually a very yellow shade of brown. It's a Vallejo Games Color paint called Scrofluous Brown, or something to that effect. Since it isn't a true yellow paint, I don't get those weird issues most yellows tend to have. The highlight I used is Yellow Ochre, which, for an actual yellow paint is a surprisingly good one. It's nice and thick and has good coverage.

I finished the last two Custodes Wardens last night. Now I can move on to something else. Probably back to Mantic for a bit.

Raw Siena or Yellow Ochre are a nice bases for yellow. I've never liked proprietary names for paints.

Those custodians turned out well.

@Barzam - is there a reason you don't use pure yellow (or white) as the final edge highlight?

California

Not really. I really don't like doing edge highlights, so I tend to avoid them. Too time consuming and I'm generally not happy with my line work. So, I tend to just keep it simple with one highlight layer when I actually do edge highlights. I admit, it would probably look better if I actually did do the second highlight. Maybe I'll try it when I do my Space Marine Heroes.

Okay, I'm finally done with my next project. I haven't been posting updates because I've been working on vehicles. Yep, I just finished a pair of Predator tanks for my Raptors.

First, we have the currently unnamed las tank. This baby was actually a salvage that I got from BobtheInquisitor.

Technically, the tank is done. However, before I can consider it truly finished, it needs a name and some artwork. I won't be happy until I get some pinup art on it.

The next tank does have a name and accompanying pinup art (the art is nsfw btw). This tank is called Pistol Packin' Mama and is armed with an autocannon turret and las cannon sponsons.

And here's the art.

You have any spare headlights/ lamps? I accidentally tossed the ones that go at the top of the treads on the land raider and have no clue how I should deal with it, leaving my tank for the Custodes unfinished.

I like the Pistol Packin' Mama. We'll need some Nurgle tanks to counter them.

That's going to have to be a thing. With appropriate pinup art no less.

"You like the junk in my trunk?"

Sadly, no spare headlights. That's why the top one doesn't have any.

I approve of the names, but wouldn't Pustule Poppin' Papa be better? Also, Junk in the Trunk should totally be the name of a Nurgle tank. It should have artwork of a Nurgling twerking.

Speaking of asses, there was a P-51 with the nickname Iron Ass back in WWII. It's noseart was of a donkey with a metal butt. That seems pretty fitting for a tank. If I can get the decal, I'm totally naming the top tank Iron Ass.

I found this half started Bones paladin a couple of days ago while looking for some decals. I figured I'd just go ahead and finish him and see if I could make some cash off of him. So far, my attempts at selling painted miniatures has been fairly successful. We'll see how human sized figures go with this dude.

I feel like the shield needs an insignia on it. Otherwise looks good.

Always stick a Menoth symbol there. That's what I always do if I can't think of anything else...

I'm sure it'll sell.

I tend to average 10 to 15 per human figure, depending on how much work I put into it. I've gotten away with more on some of the Pathfinder Iconics though. Might be worth giving them a shot, but they're older Bones models and a bit soft on detail.

He's a cool figure, but I always end up wondering what he's doing. Waiting for the baggage pony to arrive so he can sample his cheese platter? Listening to his manager psych up the Medieval Times Performers for their 8:30 show? It's a mystery.

Just finished another Bones figure.

Just a simple Purple Worm. Nothing amazing. Soon to be placed upon the sacrificial altar of Ebay.

Don't they already sell a prepaint of that mini through their Legendary Encounters line?

Anyway, I hope it makes maximum gold for you.

Got a couple more fantasy Bones figures slated for Ebay finished. Hopefully the pics are okay since I had to use my phone to take them.

First, a dwarf warrior.

Then we have an Iron Golem. I rather like this figure. I'm almost tempted to keep it. I should note, this figure is rather large.

Strap on some melta guns, an aquila or two, possibly some servo- skulls and you've got a nice Mechanicum construct. Especially in those colors.

The golem came out really well. So did the dwarf, but that golem outshines him.

In preparation for painting my mechs from the WHISPER Kickstarter, I painted up a Griffin mech from Conflict Horizon.

Funny enough, it's just about the same size as the Sokar from WHISPER. For colors on this one, I felt like I've been painting too many of my mechs and vehicles in earth tones, so I decided to try something different. None of my mechs are grey, so I thought that would be a good choice. I ended up going with the Macross VF-1S Skull Leader pallette of grey, black, and yellow. Obviously, I didn't use the same patterns or color layout. I'm happy with the results though. It's a stark contrast to my previous Griffin, which was camouflaged. The yellow isn't too over done, either. Just enough to make it pop.

Thanks. Hopefully the WHISPER figures will wind up looking at least as good. I've made the likely stupid decision to try and use a tri-color scheme using predominantly orange based on some of the line's concept art.

We'll see how well I can pull this off.
