I figured rather than spraying projects around in separate posts like a dog with too many fire hydrants that I should put the stuff I'm working on in one place.

So here it is!

OK - to start with, I've set myself the task of painting the stuff that I have bought recently before buying anything else (unless of course I happen to win those ebay auctions I'm sniping....)

I bought these guys last year, before learning that they were no longer that good for an Eldar battleforce.

They have also been a major PITA to put together and prep...

I must say I don't like the pooping- swooping, I said swooping-hawks that much...they seem pretty useless to me overall. However, when they actually manage to do something in a game then you get the pleasure of watching your opponent break down and cry at his (or her) own futility. They're really good-looking models though, so perhaps you'll be one of the first I've seen in quite a while to take them regularly in an army list?

Yeah - nice looking figures. I'm going to experiment with army painting effects with the undercoat and my airbrush...

Plan is to spray upward from underneath with black undercoat, cover with grey undercoat and then give a highlight from the top with a light white undercoat.

I will then use thin hawk turquoise with the airbrush to coat them, and graduate/blend the wings up to yellow.

Not sure how it will turn out, but should at least mean not too much work!

Yeah - I have read a bit on them and while people agree that they're OK, they are not awesome in any particular role - and the roles they can do can be done better by more effective and efficient troops.

I don't actually play much at all however, so it's not a big deal anyway!

On that one occasion they do manage to hold their own, your opponent will break down and cry, and lose all hope in himself. He will then send his landraider off the table edge and deep strike his termies into impassable terrain, all because of that one lucky roll. I've seen it. It is not a pretty sight, so be careful when you use them and if you're feeling really lucky, just don't shoot at them. The mental institutes are full enough already, we don't need to work the caregivers overtime.

Working on a plague bearer spawed from a space marine at the moment.

Overall OK, but the head is too big!

Hi

Got my new airbrush and it worked wonderfully with propper airbrush thinner!

Very nice and smooth for a sub US$30 airbrush (including shipping from Honkers!)

Base coated them - next is an Asurmen blue wash over it (with a brush), followed by an airbrush highlight, then yellowing the tips of the wings:

Alright finished airbrushing the hawks - they look nice with just airbrushing although the photo washes them out in a big way:

Looking very nice on the swooping hawks.

The Plague-bearer looks okay, because Nurgle things are always kind of lumpy/rotting.

Thanks Voldemort.

I'm quite pleased with the airbrush - it is fun to use (I didn't once get bored or peeved with doing the airbrushing as I have before with batch painting/base coating) and works well at creating nicely blended colours.

Next to actually attack them with a brush!

Finished all the pinning required for the great unclean one today, greenstuffed the gaps, based and got some paint on...

Looking to have a couple of skin hues on it as you can see from the basecoat.

Hi

Just got home from work and my son surprised me with this gem he created below.

I've asked him if I can have him to paint for my army and he's said yes! Cool!

Thanks for the comments Person Person.

Have nearly completed the painting of the figure itself tonight whilst enjoying watching the Cricket test from Leeds. Good to see Australia finally hit some form!

You can see the general look on the first one and a closer view of the metalwork that I've tried to give a used rusty pattina to.

Cheers

About to eat your Avatar...

You have some very interesting work Tallmantim.

I like what you are doing with the hot-glue gun, the base of your GUO looks very cool, and I particularly like the water effect you have done.

The piece that your son made looks quite good. I can see him making some really fantastic stuff with a bit more practice. I would recommend working with fimo/sculpey and a bit of milliput if you have access to them. Practicing with GS can get a bit frustrating, but sculpey is a really friendly material to work with in general.

Nice work .
