I like the idea of the Hellhound. It seems like a fun tank. Unfortunately, GW does not think so.

Why else would they would they price it so high? It is the same cost as a Demolisher Kit, which is vastly superior. I could see it as a little bit more expensive than the the Chimera, but what they did makes no sense.

Especially that for a little more you can get a unit that takes up the same FOC, same point Cost, and is vastly superior is all ways (Valkyrie)!?!?

Please explain this to me.

Erm... on the UK site the Hellhound is £5-ish cheaper than an LRDemolisher kit. It's £5 more expensive than a LRBT kit though, which does seem silly.

I dunno why that is. Maybe the awesomeness of Devil Dogs has something to do with it?

Back on the planet Quecks, Rockhead Rumple is wreaking havoc!

There's no explaining it - US pricing is simply stupid.

In the UK (the only market that matters ) the Hellhound price stayed the same at £30 and the Demolisher came down £5 to £35. In the US the Hellhound went up US$4.50 to US$49.50 and the Leman Russ Demolisher came down US$0.50 to US$49.50. I've lost count of the number of stupid inconsistencies there are within US pricing, let alone compared to everybody else.

Did I mention US pricing was stupid?

Compared to a Valk/Vend they seem expensive points wise, but thats in part to GW really seems to want to sell lots of valkyrie kits

In terms of firepower though, the HH variants seem to have an edge with niche-tactics. That being each one is designed to do one thing quite well, but in a slightly different way. A base-line Valk/vendetta is abot the same cost- but to upgrade it to put out equivalent anti-troop fire power it takes the rocket pods, which up the cost by 30pts.

But, I think the real strength the HH has over the Valk- is its a fast tank- hence it can tank shock(and even ram lighter vehicles with the speed fasctor). Since its weapons are designed for close in support its gonna be close anyway- savvy manuevering can utilize tank shock to 'herd' your opponent into better position for ordanance and template weapons

So, thats my 2 cents worth of left over sprue bitz

The Hellhound can make better use of cover too. And can get Smoke Launchers.

But why would you not convert a chimera instead? A Flamestorm bit would be pretty decent no?
