Hi guys,

I picked up the IG battleforce today and wanted to clarify something:

If I'm reading right, I basically now have 1 troop choice and a sentinel? Is that correct? The guy at the store said it was like 4 troop choices which is not accurate as far as I can tell. It's true that it's 4 troop "objective capturing units" but it's 1 troop slot right?

Best Regards

Jarrett

Depends how you use them, yes it could only be 1 troop slot choice, or it could be multiple troop slots. as you could have 2 veteran troops etc which counts as 2 troop slots. i believe your talking bout infantry platoons, which is good but not necessary. hope that helped.

If you want to get the most slots out of this box you would probably field it as a Company Command squad and 2 veteran squads plus the sentinel. That would be 1 hq, 2 troop slots, and 1 fast attack. Even so, its probably going to be less than 400 points anyway (unless you really load up on the wargear) so you will probably need more models to get a playable army of any sort.

Good idea man.
Catachans always struck me as a veteran type force, Cadian as more rank and file.
Good luck!

If you're just starting out I'd definitely use the battleforce as 1 hq command squad and 2 units of vets. You can also stick a heavy weapon team in each unit if you want, since you can only have the HW squad as part of a platoon. But, the 1 ccs & 2 vet units plus a sentinel will be a good start for small intro games, then you can expand from there.

What I would do after you get used to it is look into a 2nd battleforce and use that to build a platoon with 1 platoon cmd squad, 2 infantry squads and 2 heavy weapon squads, then you'll also have 2 sentinels running around plus your original company command plus 2 vet units. That'll be a great force to build off of and you can just throw in a couple of tanks and you'll be all set for bigger games.
