Makes sense to me, but I guess its up to the admin. I bet any such forum would get a good amount of traffic. Magic, by its nature, is an easy subject to dissect in a forum.

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

Although I did just recently begin to play magic again I wouldn't like to see it become it's own sub-forum on Dakka.
I don't believe the general populace that plays MTG is really the kind of community I want invading Dakka. It sounds a little elitist I know, but I just don't want the headache it will provide for the mods when the MTG people leave their sub-forum.

It would just be for people who already use dakka for other things.

I don't see why. Sure, it'd cost less than the minis forums and wouldn't require any assembly or coding, but you'd never be sure if you were going to get a reply, quick reply, or a ultra-rare foil multi-quote. Plus we'd just have to get a brand new forum every 3 months and throw the old one in the garbage.

This. If there were enough magic posts to warrant their own forum, then a forum would be made. No reason to make a forum about something that people aren't talking about anyway.

There are plenty of other places to go for magic forums. Try Starcitygames or brainburst or wizards own forums if you play standard, mtgthesource if you play legacy and themanadrain.com if you play vintage.

Dakka Dakka is a miniatures wargaming forum. We do have a video games forum, but that's because of (initially) the tie-ins between miniature gaming and computer gaming.
Magic: The Gathering doesn't really fit in here at all on Dakka. We had a Cards forum when Sabretooth was doing the Warhammer 40k game, but the OTers secretly took it over for about six months (the mods never went there) and I think it just kind of went away after that.
So, yeah, no Magic forum. Sorry. The card gamer is the natural enemy of the miniature gamer anyway. Or is that the LARPer? I can never remember.
