So every now and then I remember that athletes use steroids nowadays. And then I remember that the American court system gets drug into the whole mess. But why?

Baseball is kind of it's own private entity, we didn't elect baseball players. Why do American courts get all in a tizzy when they find out and athlete was using some kind of performance enhancing drug? It seems ridiculous to waste a courts time looking into that when they could be doing real work.

Once upon a time, I told myself it's better to be smart than lucky. Every day, the world proves me wrong a little more.

I dunno enough about all that crap. Every time I hear about Congress (Freakin Congress!) having a hearing over sports it makes me die a little inside. If Congress MUST put their nose into it, those hearings should be delayed until more pressing matters, like the economy are well under control.

Your side is always the "will of the people" the other side is always fundamentalist, extremist, hatemongers, racists, anti- semitic nazies with questionable education and more questionable hygiene. American politics 101.

The US legal system gets involved when people are selling illegal substances. Most steroids can be legally perscribed by a doctor, but most athletes are using them without a perscription.

Congress has better things to do than worry if too many baseball players are using steroids.

What's the difference between using steroids without a prescription and using heroin without a prescription?

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Heroin doesn't help you score more goals or touchdowns, it doesn't help you pitch faster, and it doesn't help you hit more homeruns. That's the difference. It's okay for Lawerence Taylor to do lots of coke, because it doesn't help him sack the quarterback. It's not alright for Barry Bonds to be on the juice and set the homerun record.

Baseball is having a backlash, because for so long, they've let it be a statistics sport - certain stats are just soooo important. As a result, anything that helps achieve those stats is cheating.

I despise baseball and don't like that the courts intervened about the scandals but playing devil's advocate here are some reasons for it:

1. Lots of money involved in baseball and its integrity is vital for business

2. War on drugs

3. Societal impact since baseball is the #2 sport in America and its one of the most iconic American sports around.

Its interesting to note that the MLB doesn't drug test players for marijuana though unlike the NBA and I assume the NFL.

Yes but if every one took steroids it would still be fair but alot more interesting and fun.
