Is Kaptin Badrukk worth taking in your ork army? He costs only 135 points......

To start it off, he is one of the cheapest independent characters in the ork 'dex, yet his stats are amazing!
WS5 BS2 S4 T4 W2 I3 A4 Ld9 Sv3+(5+)
Kaptin Badrukk excels both in cc, and range with warboss-like WS, Strength, Toughness, 4 Attacks, and a gracious 3+ armour save and 5+ Invuln, yet his gun, Da Rippa, as well as 3 free ammo grots make him even more of and eye-catcher.

Quick stats on Da Rippa: Range: 24 inches Str7 AP2 Assault3 Gets Hot

With all the amazing stats of Da Rippa, and Da Kaptin, why would anyone pass this amazing addition for only 135 points? The answer is Gets Hot.
I don't remember off hand what the rules of damaging and saving Gets Hot, but with a painboy's FNP, a decked out squad of gitz would kick so much with badrukk.

Another question, are gitz "effective" heavy support if battlewagons and walkers arnt in my price range? I can get some gits for fairly cheap, or are kannons far superior point wise?

Anyone with me on this, or am I the only one?

Unless I'm mistaken (I don't have my codex) Badrukk leads in a flashgitz unit. You'd need to field flashgitz, which are not too useful unless you buy their upgrades. With their upgrades they become sort of expensive, and alot of ork players feel the points could be spent better elsewhere. I personally like lootas better. I have a badrukk model though. He's a cool looking model, and he does have great stats. It's just a flashgitz unit doesn't really fit in my army.

Also they take up a heavy unit choice. That's one less kan squad or dread or BW. I'd hate to drop any of my ork walkers. If you want to put Flashgitz in a BW that's two heavy choices used up on one attack force. It's tough to pull the trigger on that.

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

Well, Badrukk is a nice model. However, if you were to rank the units in the Ork army from most useful to least useful, you'd get something on this order:

-Ghazghkull Thraka
-other stuff....
-more stuff....
-everything else in the Ork codex
-Big guns
-Looted wagons (gak)
-5 man gretchin squads
-used toilet paper
-used toilet paper that's been found by gretchin and soiled
-space marine arm that was found in my ork bitz box; it looked decidedly gnawed.
-Flash Gitz

The problem with Gitz, as cool as they are, is that they don't really DO anything. I'd love to get Badrukk and a squad of Gitz, but that keeps getting put off by how effective anything else I need (my horde is still in the building stage ATM) is compared to them. They are pretty good at shooting, and pretty good at CC, but don't excell in either, but have the durability of a Nob squad.. so.. they are versitile? I suppose the best use of them is anti-TEQ once you have all your other bases covered, but it is so random it is probably worth just getting 2 Shootaboy squads for the same price.
