Are they worth their points ?

Recently I played my mate and he fielded 5 LotD and they did kill plenty of IG but who cant, theyre weak and pathetic. anywho,

to me their not worth the points just to get deepstrike, slow and purpisoful, and a 3+ invuln save.

So what are you thoughts on the LotD ?

I like the fluff behind them and would use them in a narrative campaign but never as a regular unit in my lists.

Great fluff and really neat models (and conversion possibilities) but overpointed.

As someone who painstakingly built up
a very large LoTD army, you'll
understand how peed off I am with
their sidelining with the new codex!
Yes they are definitely not worth the
points cost.They should be better but
yet again they have been hamstrung
by ineffective abilities combined with
high points.Shame...

I like the LotD, they've got nice fluff, and although they're overpointed, I'd rather have them that Pedro Kantor. The 3+ invulnerable is iincredibly useful, and slow and purposeful is great for HWs.

Yeah i can see that they have their advantages, but when i played against them, to me they just didnt perform at all, sure they managed to kill my 10 man ig squad in combt but who couldnt ?

I think to make them worth it, you would need to spend the points to get them heavy weapons and make them worth thier points, heavy weapons, on a 3+ invuln save and deepstrike regardless could be a very devastating for you opponent, IF you do it right.

Well, that made me go look. Accurately deepstriked, durable, semi-mobile heavy weapons would be cool. Except that GW saw that too and made all their weapons expensive. 20 points for a flamer, meltagun or plasmagun.. what? A flamer for 20 points? Jeez. Still, for 50 points you can get a Combi-plas, plasmagun and plasmacannon on the 5 man squad, which is the most points effectient. If you think you need the melta, it is 60 points for melta, combi-melta, multi-melta.

Yeah i noticed that the wepaons were rediculously overpriced !

Ah well, my mates loss less troops, for him, the odds come moe to me bwhahaha
