this is my ork army, which is a work in progress that I should have finished orks coming along for you to see. I'm most proud of the war boss conversions and the scratch built trukk and waggon.
Have fun looking, if you like theses models I will be adding the pieces as I finish them, and once the whole set is finished I will sell them.

Good job with the army, it looks great so far. One question though. I thought that most speed freeks vehicles were red. Other than that nice work.

Just my 2 cents

Hello and welcome to Dakka Dakka. I really like the cab on the russ chassis for a battlewagon. The warboss on bike looks good as well. Why don't you paste the images into the thread theres instructions about and if a technical ignoramus like me can manage it it must be simple.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Actually the are painted red. I love drastic lighting, I try to paint my minis as if they were in a dimly lit space hulk, or attacking at twilight. This means that you have to paint with darker color schemes, but it makes the contrast of the base coats and high lights dramatic in my mind.

Those are very nice mate. I like the dark colors on them. Also, its awesome how nice a fit the AOBR boss is on a bike isnt it? Its like they made it that way on purpose. Great work so far

One of the bits that I'm proudest of is probably the the combi-flamer with the belt feed to the ammo box. So I tried to get a shot of it.

I've also been kicking around some weapon conversions for my wirly birds. First of is a simple twin linked shoota design. Go some ammo boxes and slap one on then strung bullets from the ammo case to the barrel. These are both wips and here's the first.

Speaking of wip. I've started some more armored junk I'm almost finished with a tank turret option in case I need my battle wagon to act as dakka instead of transport.

I heart the new turret a lot. It just needs a little more paint and a little more orkyness on the end of the barrel. I think I'll just ad some diamond or triangle teethy things.

This has been my project for the night. I love the look of burna boyz.
It's pretty late here, starting to be early, so I had to use a flash. These are still wips and you can see the torso to a biker I intend to finish soon and then show off.

I finally have some free time again so I have decided to throw some extra touches on my Speed freak collection. When I started this project I had imagined a culture of Orks that were ruled by a Mek illuminati. They would conspire to make trades for assassinations, build in deadly flaws into equipment, sometimes even remote detonation devices, but when all else fails the brother hood would turn on the Nobs and boss at the most opportune moment.
I’ve taken my sweet time making the Meks because they’re the main flavor and concept behind the project (that and all the broken toys that I get to send to the 40k bi-verse). I popped into the store recently and they had to Meks marked down to $12 so I snagged then both. I need more custom mega blasters, but for now this allows me to get started on the savy gear heads who realized that it was better to be a Warboss maker the a Warboss.
I do have one question. Before I use this piece; is this a custom mega blaster or would I have to add some bits, to make that work?

I got a little painting and converting done. Tomorrow I have to dremel down my riffle, and then have dinner with my family, but I'm hoping to find time to take some pictures & then get some more work done.

As promised here are some wips. I bought a box of Nobs to convert some meks, and get a few more power claws one the table. Her is a wip paint job, and the first mek conversion. Enjoy.

I’ve run into a problem. I want to field at least 6 meks, but I cant’ find a way to buy 5 more Custom Megablasters for cheap. I’ve tried the swap shop for 2 years now, and I think it’s time to get this project off the shelf for good. At first I was worried about having every Custom Megablasters look the same, so I had intended to chop up a few blasters, but that will have to wait for another day because DAMN IT I WANT TO MAKE ONE NOW!!! It seems as though Custom Megablasters are a combination solid round and plasma so I thought I would throw together the light machine gun version. This bit is not done. I will add an ammo belt & the ejector port next, then finish the deltoid with some plumber’s putty to get the pose ready.

I really like your conversions. I'm not much of a convertor myself so always nice to see others going for it!

I like the work on the dethkopter for 2 reasons.
1. It looks well executed and sharp. Drill the holes out for the gun barrels though. I started doing it, and think it makes models look even better.

2. You can totally use that for either a Kustom Mega Blasta or TL Big Shoota, and I don't see anyone complaining as long as the unit is uniform. Considering the price increase in GW land, this makes the conversion even better !

Nicely done
Off I goto Ebay to pick up more deffkoptas

I thought I’d pop in to show you what I got done last night. I’ve almost finished the frame for a battle wagon, and I finished most of the paint job to the Nob that I posted last time. I was getting ready to slap on the last color and then high lights so I glued him together and then realized that I don’t have a boss pole for this guy . Either way this is what I have so far. The other good news is that I got one more megablasta in the mail and the sides to a bane blade I intend to turn into a battle fortress!

@Chinggerspy: If you play ork then I recommend that you go for conversions. Orks are often driving poorly built ramshackle and asymmetrical vehicles, but the main reason that you should try converting if you play orks is that you can avoid paying 50 usd on a vehicle by picking up used toys.

@NJPC: Thanks. I made those conversions out of necessity. Rokkitz are nice but with a ballistic skill of 2 I would rather rely on buzz saws for anti armor, and then use the cheaper twin linked big shooter. Oh yeah, I will drill the barrels, Just have to get a new drill bit. My last two didn’t survive all that leadless pewter. (a lot of old school chaos)

I've got some good work done. I have to dig my camera out and then i'll show you some progress pictures. I have also been helping my friend finish his space marine army, because orks need somfin to crump!. I will also probably post a battle report after Thursday. The age of the mek is dawning!

I'm also working on a kitbashed dakkajet, but i don't have the rules for them. I don't care about the point cost but is some one could tell me what the standard layout is & maybe some of the options for upgrades and so on?

It's been a million years since my last update but thanks to covid my brother started playing for the first time since 2nd edition! I couldn't let him go at it alone, for God's sake he gave me my first box of miniatures back in 1993, space marines of course.
Anyway that plus covid giving me some spare time and cash has led me to get as many orks to a table to standard as quick as I could. I haven't done the weathering on anything yet, because we got into a rush to make Apocalypse sized armies as fast as possible. So I'll be up loading a few new pictures every other day or so.

Your conversion work is excellent. I like your color scheme. The warboss on the bike is my favorite. To solve your bits problem how about a box of Flash Gitz. Their weapons should give you the customization you are looking for. Good luck!

I was given one hell of a gift from my brother many months back. It was an old Apocalypses box set of kans and Deffdreads and that stompa. Once again I have not applied weathering, but they are all ready tp play. When I found out that the gretchen piloting the kanz where the best shots in my army I decided to kit bash 2 more rocket arms which will allow them to be affective against armor and infantry.
any way, here they are.

I needed to make a decision about what to do with the hatch on the top of the Stompa. The bad part is that I lost the hatch and torso that came with the Stompa, the good new is I have lots of bits and this is an ork army so if I'm so inclined I may use any bit I want! So I made a hat for my Stompa and here it is.

The only thing I would add is to say tidy up the rim just a personal pet peeve of mine because the pain job is amazing and I cant unsee the rim

Way ahead of you, even got it varnished now. This was one of those projects where I thought I was done multiple times, but then I took a picture and found a big mistake. Fixed that went back for another picture only to find more. After that I took the picture I posted, then painted the rim black and went back to the air brush to varnish, during that I found two more obvious spots that I missed. After I painted that I was so excited to be finished I rushed to show my roomate, she loved it and told me she like the purple a lot which made me remember I was going to paint the wire leading to the end of the weapon &... I had missed it... sometime it never ends! I love this model but, now that I'm done I'm painting a model with very little detail as a treat. Just a simple nob so I can finish it in one sitting.

Behold the the candy corn krumpa!
This is just a random unpainted nob I had laying around. After the complexity of the big meks and stompa paint jobs, I just wanted something easy that I could finish in one sitting.

The nob looks great. I like how you use the orange color blended it helps the model to stand out and it compliments the overall paint scheme.
