I am thinking about converting a squad of imperial jetbikes for a special event in the next couple of months and I was wondering if anyone had a good way to convert one out of standard GW parts? I know that I could probably kit bash a land speeder and some bikes together to get one but I am aiming for something that looks like the gw model but a little less ornate.

how would you use the bikes in a battle? like points cost and all that? is there a profile on them?

There are rules published for them on Bell of Lost Souls but I really just want to use them as a display piece and a unit to use in friendly games and apoc. There are probably more rules for them in other places too.

fair enough, sounds like they could be very cool, tbh there arent really any proxy models, you could try buying another set of models, from a model store and converting them, eldar jet bikes, but they are a bit curvy however

Yeah I thought about doing that. You have any recommendations on where to start looking for 3rd party models I could convert? I have a couple old eldar jetbikes in my box of old models that I will look at and see if I can pull it off. Not sure they are beefy enough to look right though.

Don't forget that there is a current model in the Dark Angels range that is an Imperial Jetbike. Character name is Sammael- Master of the Ravenwing. I think it was $25 US to purchase and their is a painting guide in WD327. Cool concept!

You can replace the front tire/fork ofnormal sm bike, use a drone with two ariels, then add one to the back, or make a pod racer style bike with tau devilfish engines

Cool idea. Under first edition rules I had a jet bike mounted Chaplain. He got lost though.

Battle Fleet gothic ships work wonderfully for jet bikes

Yeah they seem to look perfect for the front end of the jetbike. I will look into that today.

Edit: Does anyone know what size battlefleet gothic ship I will need to use for the front of the jetbike?

i know how to make them ..... OK ..... dont put the wheels on the bike and build it normally ( apart from the wheels ) the chop the front wheel guard off and rotate it almost 180* so the back of the wheel guard is now facing up wards then plasti card or green stuff the gap . then in the back of the bike put half an land speeder engine where the wheel would usually go or iff you dont want to spend 18 pounds just for one engine the use 2 jump pack thrusters one ontop of the other . then you got ur self one kick ass mechanicus issue jet bike ! ( put person and bolters on a little differently , but im sure you can do it with out me explaining it )

these links should show you some examples of what the bike should look like after .
