I like the switch in Scenario 1 from the first round where HQ's were heavily weighted.
Scenario 2 may need some clarification as to what happens when you do not play a full 6 turns. (it should be common sense, but you never know....)
Scenario 3 is a modified clense.

I think they are interesting scenarios and will be fun to play. I feel bad for people with subpar troops choices in the first mission. I know I'm slightly rethinking my MSU approach because of it. A whole game of nightfight destroys armies depending on long-range firepower though.
I kinda think that the scenarios are going to give an advantage to horde armies like Orks, but I could be wrong.

Yeah... stuff like Kroot, Gaunts, Guardians, IG HWTs/PCSs, Scouts (especially 5 man squads in LSSs), and just small and/or easily killed squads in general. I was thinking of running 5 5-man SM Bike Squads, but that may not be the best idea anymore.

A lot will depend on terrain in these scenarios. Round one seems to try to favor a shootier table, round two and three are more close combat. Still round three will probably favor crowd control weapons, I'd guess.

Just for clarification, if the game does not go the full 6 turns in Scenario 2 (and it may with night fight in effect), decide the objectives once time is called as indicated, and determine victory accordingly.
I'll add that little bit to the final, downloadable versions of the scenarios, but I'm going to wait a bit to see if any further clarifications need to be made.
Thanks!

Gornal- when I first read through the scenarios I was thinking that orks had it made, then I started to think a little bit more.
Most players with orks end up having at least one troop unit that is made from a non troop unit if they take a Warboss or Big Mek, suddenly, those meganobs go to being worth 3 killpoints in the 1st scenario. Most ork builds that I've seen have between 4-6 troop choices, if you throw in 2 HQ, some dedicated transports and 4-6 elite/fast attack/heavy support choices then you are looking at over 30 kill points, good luck getting a 10 or more killpoint advantage.
Because of nightfight the 2nd mission deals a big blow to any ork army with a lot of lottas, and gearing up to be a mech ork army plays into my multi melta equiped hands for this mission.
Don't get me wrong, I think Orks will still be a handful, however, they are not unbeatable

Hey John, Quick Clarification
What is it if the difference is less than 6 KP's but not equal. In the 1st Scenario it says that you need 6 KP's for a minor victory but it says a tie occurs when KP's are equal. Would say a 4 KP difference be a Tie or a Minor Victory? Thanks!
On a side note I like the scenarios even if the KP one is gonna hurt my guard pretty bad since I have 6 Troop choices and 7 units for that scenario

Ah a slight oversight on my part. In scenario 1, a tie occurs when there is a difference of 5KP or less between you and your opponent. I'll amend that one as well.
Thanks for the catch Hulksmash.

I would like this too, but I think it will probably end up being the TO's call.
As far as the scenarios go, my Mech SW is loving it. Was alittle rough in the first round, but overall it has been 6 very good scenarios

The missions are well written and promise to be fun. I loved the first round missions!!! What I don't like, is how lob sided the missions are in favor of some armies. I play guard, and a very nasty guard at that. Against these missions however, I might have to borrow a friends army. As before the game starts the guard are at a big disadvantage. As stated before, armies that lack close combat or rely on shooting are kind of hosed in the second and third round. My bet will be on orks, CC chaos and the bugs. My guess is there won't be many guard or tau qualifiers. Not really bitching...just unfortunate that it would be suicide to bring the army that got me into the semis in the first place.

The second round darkness I will admit kinda hurts range armies. The third round however there is nothing to stop you from sitting back and pelting the gak out of your opponents troop choices on the central node, while sending yours forward after its clear.

I was going to say only the second scenario is really painful and that can be mitigated by have nasty up close firepower (bane wolf's, flamers, plasma/melta vets) and proper use of searchlights. I fully intend to sacrifice a chimera here and there to light up a target I need to make sure stays dead. I think it's the first scenario i'm fearing most since my troop choices are super soft once their mobile bunkers go away....

John, thanks again as always for your quick responses. It means a lot.
Now, you have politely and artfully dodged the deff rolla question on numerous fronts. Indeed, as it's a substantive rule issue, maybe you're not supposed/allowed to answer. I understand that. But you COULD perhaps state that, FOR THIS scenario, it doesn't apply or does apply. And if you did that for all three scenarios..... sorry, it's the lawyer in me.

Guard players who bring only vets as troops have cause for concern. Guard players who bring platoons will just join them up into uber squads in round 1 and have no fear.

I noticed that the third mission doesn't have a VP reminder. Does this mean that only the VPs from the first two missions count at the end of the day?
Also, this is a question I had from last round, sorry if you already answered it, but the difference of wording in the retreating rules in the second 2 scenarios implies that models that outflanked will retreat to their outflanking edge if it is closer. I'm not sure if I'm interpreting that right, so if you could help me out, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Kitzz

I am not sure about the deployment on the first scenario. We had trouble in the prelims with the 2nd scenario. When you deploy does a troop choice in a dedicated transport count as 2 choices. This question came up because the example in the BRB says the Troops and Rhino count as both of your selections. Please let me know how many or how you deploy in the 1st scenario for semis.

He's said previously that unless stated otherwise you use the rules from the rulebook. So yes, a troop squad and it's transport count as 2 choices.

I don't think the kill points is much of the problem for the guard. The first scenario is not the worst of the three for the guard. If fact it is the best chance, IMHO, that they have of the three. It will still be rougher for them then other lists. Just not good scenarios for the guard in the semi's. I am however keeping my copies of the missions as they are in many ways better then the ones out of the book. They have character and will be fun to play. Just better for my marines. Glad I have multiple armies.

Really Sha? I'd think that the third mission is going to be the best for us. Especially if the center of the table isn't in area cover I guess I'm just not that worried about night fight since most of my shooting is within 24" anyway. The first mission I give up a lot of KP's so it's what i'm worried about. I play a hammer style of army for a reason!

Well, just played a test game with the second mission. Guard vs Mech marines. We called it after 3 turns. He had 3 combat squads left and not much else. While I had position and 4 of 5 objectives, not all were removed yet. I went first and got the upper hand right away. However if he had gone first, it would have gone the other way we think. Night fight is not as much the problem as the table half thing, but it does cause problems. After that game, I may still play guard but gotta test the other missions first. Gonna try the 3rd mission tomorrow.
