Subject: Female grey knight? Good idea?

I'm just wondering about the lack of female figures for IG and even SM. So I made a small decision to buy some Reaper dark legends female figures, specifically:
http://cgi.ebay.ph/14093-FINARI-CRUSADER-HERO-Reaper-Warlord_W0QQitemZ370233486100QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item5633a2ab14&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1262
(I hope you guys can see it)
Anyway, for me I think she looks passable enough as a grey knight, though should be enhanced by green stuff in some places where the markings should go.
My question is, If I represent grey knights like this, is it legal on games? tournies? I'd of course improvise to include a stormbolter on her.

People that are big on the fluff won't like it obviously, but that's on a person to person basis of course. As for tournaments, for most you'd need a (mostly) GW figure, so no such luck there.
Nice model though.

Alot of people are against femmarines of any shape or form as they just dont make sense, even if a woman was put through the process and it worked she would look like a man due to all the male hormones she is on.
So several people may refuse to play female marines, tournaments refuse them if they are not mostly GW models and your most likely to get alot of gak here on dakka if you make them.
look what happened to doctor thunder...

Well, i'd try on friendly games then. On tournies,i'd simply use my 'regular' grey knights.
The reason why i even suggested it,is that the sense of 'balance' and cool look of armored women to count as SM. Plus I want to experiment on popular concepts, since my idea of WH40K is for fun first, rules/fluff restrictions second. Along these lines I don't mean to step into anybody's sentiments,it's just my idea of an concept.
Well some could also say there's SoB,but I haven't heard if they had undergone the same process as the space marines. Besides, if we compare the figures of SoB with the one's I shown, IMHO the reaper models are cooler.

By the way, is there a rule against female psykers?

Female Guard are okay - there're plenty of female and mixed gender regiments (most notably any from Cadia). SM wouldn't be lore friendly, as Female genetics can't accept the additional organs and engineered hormones. Grey Knights are Space Marines, so again from a lore standpoint Female Grey Knights would not be possible. From a gaming aspect, it's more or less a case of "whatever". You could always just use them as an elite Sisters Order and field them as "counts as" Grey Knights to reflect this "Elite" status. That would be somewhat more lore friendly, and might pacify the people that would otherwise suffer an aneurism from the idea of Female Marines. Me? I don't agree with it, as I'm a man of the fluff of the game, but I'm not one to tell others what they can or can't do with their models.
And no, there's nothing against female Psykers. They're fairly common. Some Guard regiments even prefer using Female psykers as they believe them to be more powerful than male psykers. In fact, one of the BL books (I think it was one of the Calpurnia series) said that on some worlds, Female Psykers -are- the more powerful of the 2 sexes. So you're okay there.

I agree that Female SM or grey knights wouldn't fit with the lore. Otherwise the Sisters of Battle would have strenght and toughness 4 like all the marines out there, instead they are stuck with 3's, like normal humans. There -has- to be a logical explanation for that, them being the military force of both the Ecclesiarchy and the Ordo Hereticus, so I can only assume the genetics used on the marines aren't compatible with the female body.
Now, if we forget about lore for a moment, and only look at the model itself.. I would say the armor isn't big enough for a grey knight. But then the Sisters basically wear corsets with armored legs and arms so... >.>
Female psyker now? Absolutely no problem there.
Hell has no fury like a female psyker scorned. Or something.

Thanks for the inputs. This idea would not really fly then, haha.
I would just have to convert my female warriors/knights into some other characters where females are mostly tolerated.
Inquisitors, psykers, astropaths come to mind (I dont know if there are female commissars, is there?), but to field them as Sisters hmnnn.. nice idea, but that would surely push me to build another army on top of my already expensive IG and their Grey knight allies.

So make a 'Counts As' army. You could base them off of the Blade Mistresses included in the Eisenhorn and Ravenor trilogies, of super elite warrior swordwomen, and use the rules for DH to reflect squads of ultra deadly amazons.
There's nothing preventing you from adopting the rules as you see suitable in a manner that still allows you to play the game.
I'm considering a heavily converted pre-Crusade mechanically advanced "Lost Civilization" human army using the Eldar codex.

Ok, have to have those trilogy books. I have concentrated my warhammer book collection around marines and titans not inquisitors. Arghhhh soo many books to read yet, hehehe.
Again thanks for the inputs, really helpfull.

Sisters only get power armor. The bonuses that marines have over normal humans come from their genetic augmentation, not armor. I can't remember where exactly I read it (it was years ago), but it was in a GW publication worded almost the exact same way.
I follow fluff so the idea at first started getting my blood up, but I calmed down. Would I refuse to play you? not as long as you used real rules. Would I enjoy the game? most likely. I build for fluff and play for fun. Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh yeah, they used to make a female commissar figure in pewter. She had a powersword and plasma pistol I believe. Been a while since I've been in a store with a large selection of blister packs, so they might actually still make her. Although I have never heard of a female commissar in any fluff.

@Jimmy82: You probably read that in their respective codices. I know there's a page describing the SoB gear in the WH codex and it states that while they have power armor, they don't have that black carapace thing and none of the SM genes and stuff.
And those books sound good.. I wants them now. Darn. >.>

So the Galaxy is a big place, with many interesting possibilities.
I don't think its wise to tinker with the established fluff! And certainly tournaments are more or less set in stone....however, outside of the tornaments and gamesdays etc, you can and should create what you want to further your experience of the WH40K setting.
So why not create your own "race"......

If you don't write super-creepo fluff for it, then playing female minis with marine stats is a-ok by me.

One of the problems with it. The fluff behind the lady marines, is always at least a little bit of icky neckbeard sex fantasy.
Women only have XX, Men have XY, and Marines have XYZ chromosomes. Without both the X and the Y, the Z cannot be created through the processes of implantation. Female space marines, as a result, are not possible for loyalist forces due to the limits of technology and the human body.
As far as chaos forces are concerned, it is more possible, but I would still conclude unlikely. The hand/wavium nature of new space marine creation in the eye would possibly override the technical hurdles, but then you have to wonder where they got an entire company to give up their equipment so some girls could play space marine. Demon Forge? Maybe, but not likely. The only thing that could work is straight up black magics- Tzentch sorcerers cursed a group of Marines and turned them into women, Slaneesh forcibly converted an entire warband's gender. Stuff like that. The S6 and storm bolters could be some sort of demonic gifts that came in addition to the other effects of the curse.
It would be a pretty hard one to explain. And you couldn't use the cool fig for anything GW sanctioned. So overall, no, not really a good idea.

Nonsense. The Battle Company box is perfect for filling out your ranks of aspect warriors with a large contingent from the Screaming Baldies shrine.

Space marines cannot be female. The fluff says so. Don't make female space marines.

Actually, there use to be Citadel figures for female space marines with two different molds and were released in their own blister pack as "Female Space Marines". Citadel later dropped that product and repackaged those two figs with other RT era odds and ends as the 40k Adventures box set, and named the to female marines "Babs" and "Gabs". I still have a "Gabs" model, which will eventually be an Inquisitor in one or both of my Ordo armies.
The models in question were badly proportioned and had very unfeminine faces. Babs had a power hammer and Bolter, while Gabs had a power sword and bolter. Both had psyker badges on their shoulders (as females where the best/most powerful psykers back then).
