I'm brand new to the forums, but i joined beacuse a friend told me about this specific section of the forums.

A long time ago (well not that long, 4 or 5 months ago). I started experimenting with the rules for a void dragon profile. I'm not an expert at this, or w/e, but here he is:

THE VOID DRAGON

The Vaul-Moon shall bring forth the Dragon, The Master of Death will drink deep from Ishas’s Eye, That which lies outside will be drawn to the harvest, And the Jackal-God shall turn brother against brother. The Four shall take their place amongst the stars, Their legions ascendant, unstoppable as the night, A deadly shroud shall fall across the spirit, And the Galaxy shall mourn. [taken from page 5 of the Necron Codex]

Pts. /Model WS BS S T W I A Ld Sv
Void Dragon 850 10 - 10 9 8 6 6 10 2+/3+

(The stats are really what im worried about. The way he is set up right now, is that it takes Destroyer weapons, or a bunch of Rail Guns/Lascannons/Fire Prism cannons to take him out. Althought thats doable in apoc, they wound on a 3+/4+, and then the Dragon gets a 3+ invuln. Anything str 5 or lower cant touch him, and 6s wounds on a 6+, followed by the dragon getting a 2+ save. And really, even assault oriented troops will have a hard time hitting him in combat. I know the void dragon is the beastliest of the 4 ctan, but is he too beastly?)

Number/Squad: 1

Type: Gargantuan Creature

Weapons and Equipment: The Void Dragon is immune to natural law and can shape its body into whatever weapons it chooses. Despite this, the Void Dragon generally bears the form of having claws, tusks, a scythed tail, and teeth.

Character: A C’tan is an independent character and follows all of the rules for characters given in the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook, modified by the ‘Above All Others’ rule (may not join friendly units and may be picked out by enemy shooters even if within 6’’ of the targets).

SPECIAL RULES
C’tan: The Void Dragon is a C’tan, and as such, follows all rules detailed on page 27 of the Necron Codex.

Wings: The Void Dragon has wings and is treated as Jump Infantry in all respects. (Thinking about changing this to Agile)

The Machine-God: As the Father of the Mechanicum, the Void Dragon, is capable of remotely controlling technology from vast distances. The Void Dragon conveys ultimate synchronicity to his army.
- As long as the Void Dragon remains in play, you may choose to add +1 to your rolls for reserves.
- A Necron army led by the Void Dragon is also granted the ‘Subvert Machine’ strategic asset.
- In addition to this, all enemy vehicles are subject to the Void Dragon’s torment. During the shooting phase roll 1 die for each enemy vehicle that is at least partially within a 12’’ radius from the Void Dragon. On a roll of 4+, the vehicle will suffer a ‘Vehicle Stunned’ result with no possible way of being downgraded (ex: spirit stones, extra armor). (this fits the fluff)

Feast of Souls: The Void Dragon may choose to use to consume the souls of enemies around him instead of attacking normally in close combat. Place the Apocalyptic Blast Marker Template above the C’tan, any models entirely beneath it are hit automatically. Models partially beneath it are hit on a 5+. Every model takes a strength 5 hit with no Armor saving throw permitted. Models that are hit, but survive must take a pinning test. (based on the Nightbringer's gaze of death)
Harvest: The Void Dragon enjoys controlling and consuming his victims slowly, through the use of technological implants. Everything that becomes victim to the Void Dragon in close combat will be molded into a Necron Warrior. Models that are reduced to 0 wounds (not including monstrous and gargantuan creatures) by the Void Dragon should be placed on their sides, in the same manner as you would for Necrons awaiting their ‘Will Be Back!’ roll. At the beginning of your turn, roll a die for each enemy model on its side that is also within 6’’ of the Void Dragon. On a 4+, the model is replaced by a single Necron warrior. (If there is also a Tomb Spyder within 12’’, the roll is increased by +1, this effect is not cumulative). Necron Warriors that were successfully spawned this way form their own unit, consolidating up to 6’’, and at least 2’’ away from an enemy unit. This unit will confer a Victory Point to your opponent if it is destroyed. (my idea, not sure how it would work all if Fnp replaces wbb)

Thunderstorm: As the most powerful of all of the Star-Gods, the Void Dragon crafted invincible warriors to serve him. The armies of the Void Dragon are capable of unleashing storms of lightning at their foes. Every model that is in an army led by the Void Dragon may take lightning fields (See Necron Armory entry, detailed on page 15 of the Necron Codex) at a cost of +2 points per model. (not so good, but it fits the fluff, and i feel i NEED to include it)

Their Number is Legion: Necrons units led by the Void Dragon can join other units of the same type, by moving to satisfy unit coherency rules provided neither units are engaged in close combat. (based on how orks used to join up together)

Anyway, what do you guys think? Suggestions and feedback is welcome, and encouraged. Apparantly a GW representative looks over these (or so my friend says...)

Needs to be 900-950 points for the abilities and power. Anggrath is only 888 points and doesnt have the same survivability as the void dragon.

Comparing tournament records is another form of e-peen measuring.

This guy should be crazy a heck and near 2500 points. Thats what hes meant to be. A friend of mine made one and we found old rules for it and decided to make them and tweak them for apoc... Think I deleted the sheet I made though...

Was that from a 2nd edition codex or something? Do necrons even have a 2nd edition codex?

(The stats are really what im worried about.

As you should be, Gargantuan Creatures are far harder to kill than superheavy vehicles, so the point cost here should be at least over 1000.

these seem contradictory.
cannot join units, units he joins can merge?

THE HORUS HERESY: Emprah: Hours, go reconquer the galaxy so there can be a new golden age. Horus: But I should be Emprah, bawwwwww! Emprah: Magnus, stop it with the sorcery. Magnus: But I know what's best, bawwwwww! Emprah: Horus, tell Russ to bring Magnus to me because I said so. Horus: Emprah wants you to kill Magnus because he said so. Russ: Fine. Emprah's always right. Plus Ole Red has already been denounced as a traitor and I never liked him anyway. Russ: You're about to die, cyclops! Magnus: O noes! Tzeentch, I choose you! Bawwwww! Russ: Ah well. Now to go kill Horus. Russ: Rowboat, how have you not been doing anything? Guilliman: . . . I've been writing a book. Russ: Sigh. Let's go. Guilliman: And I fought the Word Bearers! Horus: Oh shi--Spess Puppies a'comin? Abbadon: And the Ultramarines, sir. Horus: Who? Anyway, this looks bad. *enter Sanguinis* What are you doing here? Come to join me? Sanguinius: *throws self on Horus's power claws* Alas, I am undone! When you play Castlevania, remember me! *enter Emprah* Emprah: Horus! So my favorite son killed my favorite daughter! Horus: What about the Lion? Emprah: Never liked her. Horus: No one does. Now prepare to die! *mortally wounds Emprah*Emprah: Au contraire, you dick. *kills Horus* Dorn: Okay, now I just plug this into this and . . . okay, it works! Emprah? Hellooooo? Jonson: I did nothing! Guilliman: I did more nothing that you! Jonson: Nuh-uh. I was the most worthless! Guilliman: Have you read my book? Dorn: No one likes that book. Khan: C'mon guys. It's not that bad. Dorn: I guess not. Russ: You all suck. Ima go bring the Emprah back to life.

All units can merge. I should have typed "in an army led by the Void Dragon". It was implied from the other abilities.

Scyzantine Empire

I agree that he is undervalued and think the Legion rule is confusing... can you explain it in more detail?

I really like the Harvest ability, that's just awesome.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

kk has a copy of the old necron rules scanned and uploaded around here somewhere. Including that anti-vehicle rule.

Looks cool. Not sure about the points. You could also make him immune to Sniper rifles, or else Sniper Rifles only wound on a 6+. Unless that is normal for Gargantuan already, I do not know the rule tbh.

Stunning a vehicle seems almost too much unless the model is not huge like it should be.

12" is a long ways from a gargantuan creature, gargantuans are about as large as a Warlord Titan in base size.

Shaking seems better when your army is already taking control of my titan for your turn. Making almost every vehicle in my army useless every turn gives you a giant advantage, to the point where he better cost minimum 2,000. Especially when my vehicles carry the guns that have the means of taking him down in most cases.

From what I have heard about the books is that the Omnissiah is actually the Emperor. Mars just happens to have a C'tan in it.

The true followers of the God-Emperor will never forget their name! We are the Imperial Guard!
Now and forever serving the God-Emperor, and Him alone!

I'd say... about 1300 points? Not sure, I'm bad at pricing things.
Looks pretty Apocalypse IMO, but that's what it's meant to be!
Wouldn't want to face one thought.
