I'm trying to drybrush an IG trooper khaki like a Navy chief or officer and can't seem to get the color right. The models are primed black and Kommando Khaki comes on too yellow, I've tried snake bite leather layered over with bleached bone as well and nothing seems to to come out right. What colors should I drybrush to get a good khaki finish?

Are you looking for a dull, greyish color, or a richer brown? You might want to start with a thin basecoat or a heavy drybrush of grey or dark brown. A lot of browns look yellow when contrasted with a black undercoat I think. Use some sort of passing tone between the black and khaki. It could be Charadon Granite, Codex Grey, Graveyard Earth, etc. It depends on your taste.
You definitely don't want to use Snakebite Leather or Bleached Bone. Those are quite yellow compared to Kommando Khaki.

You could be well served to look at vallejo if you have a lot of guys to paint like that. Their modelcolour range has just about every shade of khaki you can imagine

Thanks, I'll try that tomorrow. The khaki I'm shooting for is more of a brown than a grey. Going through my paints I do have vallejo khaki, I'll have to see how it comes out.

Most colors don't go well over black (like Khaki). Base coat the black with Graveyard Earth, dry brush Khaki, ink brown then re-dry brush with Khaki.
Lots of steps but each should go quickly if you work on a unit at a time. The layers will also give your figure a very smooth, complex color.

Khemri Brown actually comes on over a black undercoat, EXACTLY like the Khaki/Desert Yellow blending that GW does for the 8th Cadian.
