Let me set the stage. With all the mech IG and SM being played now days. I wondered if the locals were playing correctly.

Moving a non-fast transport and shooting from it. I watched a mech IG move his chimera 12" and shoot squad inside. I thought that can't be right so I had buddy look it up in his rulebook. Sure as it was a misplay.

Cruising speed = more than 6" and up to 12" (pg.57 BRB)

Fire points (pg 66 BRB)

So I ask how many people moved 12" and fired their squads embarked inside?

I know it's a simple game rule, but I want to see how many actually knew it.

I double checked it before I went to the first round of Ard Boyz and actually had to call a marine player on it. It's a subtle but substantial change from the previous edition.

Misplays happen. How many people played Dreadnoughts as getting 2D6+10 armour penetration before they found out it was 1D6+10?

I never used transports before 5th... Also, I actually read the rules, thus huzzah, no trickery.

Someone tried to pull off that one with a marine rhino countering my melta vets last week. I said no and waved rules when he complained at me, then proceeded to melta his rhino from vindictiveness, then tank-shocked the marines next turn, for funsies.

I collect:
Guard - 2k of mostly infantry
DA - 2k of deathwing, 2k of other bits (no vehicles)
Sisters - mostly converted/proxy because I'm waiting for therange to go plastic.
Tau - 2k with no riptides because I can.

Last night, a Mech IG player said he has been playing that wrong. I just wanted to see if any players have been overlooking that rule.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Or on top of that, moving transport >6", embarking unit and attempting to shoot.

Simple rules, but overlooked from one edition to the next.

I doubt that not many. But if they do, I just feel sorry for them..Because you should never have a Dreadnought with a chainfist. And because if they still think so even that they know it doesn't have chainfist...
I just might have to bring my flamer and burn them, resurrect them and burn them again.

I still have to remind some players of this rule from time to time.

Keep in mind that if a transport moves over 6 inches the unit can still disembark & shoot. However not many people have units getting out of transports these days.

I dont think our group has ever had that problem, but I will have to keep an eye out for it though when I start going to tournaments.

yet the unit can hop out of a chimera or rhino that moved 12 and still shoot.....

I blame GW's greed and overpriced miniatures for this dumb rule.

.Only a fool believes there is such a thing as price gouging. Things have value determined by the creator or merchant. If you don't agree with that value, you are free not to purchase.
