I think that you've pretty much answered your own question with the grey and purple robe scheme. However, although not at all in harmony with the 40k background, I truly believe that 1000 Grey Knights is barely enough to contain all of the deamonic incursions in the galaxy. I think that grey painted ones should be called Grey Knights, silver painted ones should be called Silver Knights, orange painted ones should be called Orange Knights...

Do you see what I'm getting at here? Hey, how about Green Knights! It's not at all "stictly correct", but how on Terra did the Emperor think that 1000 deamonic-fighting warriors would be enough? That's 0.001 "Grey Knights" on every 1000000 habitual world in the galaxy! No where near enough! Go on, try something wierd out, because I think GW seriously restricted themselves when they said that: "They're the Grey Knights and they're the only Space Marines specifically meant to kill Deamons..."

See what I mean?

Yer i get it to an exstent i love the fluff for the grey knights and tbh i like how there isnt enough it kind of brings out the nievity in the emporor how he thinks its enough but also highlights just how noble they are to take on such odds.Im just stuck i like how the silver looks but i like how the grey might look i was thinking of painting them all purple but swiftly decided not to because of the whole "grey" knight idea.Maybe mettalic silver with a purple arm a tribute to some fallen chapter ????

and ideas would be greatfull

Aye, 'tis an idea. TBH, if you look in the Deamon Hunters Codex, the armour is just silver washed with Blue Ink. (Just think how good Asurmen Blue would be at doing that!) You could do a purple arm by all means, which should look good with the purple-tinted metallic armour. I know that bone/khaki coloured armour/decoration looks very nice indeed with purple. If I were you, though, I'd perhaps only do a few Knights with the purple arm, as it is a personal rememberance that they keep in their heraldry... Or how about different colour-tinted armour for different squads! Hmmm...

Would it be wierd to say i love you ?? kiddin right

I like the ideas and yer i love the look when they tint the armour blue jus looks so much more ... dazzeling and i was thinking of purple tinitng the silver but havent seen it done so i didnt go down that idea i like the idea about the hereldry maybe the justicars and termis maube the grand master have it as they are if i remember the only ranks allowed to show personal hereldry. So atm we have purple tinted metal with purple robes and bone and gold details ... im liking it

Just want feedback on an idea How about using the latest Calgar model as a grand master his under arm bolters count as storm bolters and his power fists nemesis force weapons ????

O H I am in the Webway...

IIRC there is a article on 40k lexicanum that says that there is about 3000 Grey Knights since they don't follow the codex astartes. Also, Grey Knights are ALL psychers and put normal Space Marines to shame. They are beyond amazing fighters and their wargear is OOT. There can't be 10,000+ grey knights for the fact that there aren't enough people capable to be one!

Also, there are many other factions that fight daemons... IG and SM fight them and the SoB and the Inquisition and the Illuminati even.

Chose whatever color scheme. I think that Purple and Blue and Red GK all look good.

He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster and if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you

That's interesting... Cheers! Going back to the whole painting thing, I'd only use gold decorations out of bone/gold because it's keeping the pallette more simple. Simple=Effective... Usually. Save the bone coloured decor for the special guys (EDIT: and purity seals - Purple wax too!) - Make them stand out from the rest of the army.

A nice paint scheme for grey nights:

Red armour, gold trim, white robes, blue force weapons.

Have fun!

Cheers,

Jack.
