Anyone read the rules for the 2000 pt 40k tournament?
I really wish I had known about this and I would have gone. Good things about it:
1) 2000 pts. You can flesh out your 1850 army but it's not an insane amount of points like 2500 is.
2) 7 games! 4 on saturday and 3 on sunday and it ends at 3pm for those who need to fly out that night. This is a much greater indication of skill and adds alot more value to the price of the event.
3) After 4 games they break the bottom 50% of players into a new bracket so it becomes two separate tournaments. Sounds good for everyone. Getting very unlucky? Still got a chance at a award/prize.
4) The scoring emphasizes generalship.
Battle Points(74%): (329 points) 7 games, 47 points per round, objective based.
Sportsmanship(13%): ( 56 points) 7 games, 8 points per round, player scored.
Painting(6%): 25 points, judge scored.
Rules Knowledge(5%): 20 point quiz.
List Submission(2%): 10 points.
5) The painting scoring isn't a simple system that can be exploited like the most recent GW system. It also isn't a secret like the Adepticon system.
All models painted to a 3 color standard and bases painted/flocked? 18 points
All models look like they are part of a cohesive force? 1-4 points
At least 3 models that are exceptional (converted nicely, great paint jobs, etc)? 1-3 points
I wish I had an army ready, alas I can't make it this year. I am definitely going next year.
