Looking good.

I still think you need the jester dwarf with the puppets to complete your warband.

One more Bones fantasy figure finished. Hopefully he'll get some attention when I put him up for sale.

This guy is supposed to be some kind of Ogre chieftan.

Now, more interesting stuff. Highlord Tamburlaine had challenged me to a skirmish game of 40, My Weeping Legion against his Necrons, most likely. He managed to forget that challenge, but I made an effort to pad out my list with some more units. Unfortunately, most of what I've actually finished has been a lot of low end units. Primarily just Plague Marines and Pox Walkers with the odd cultist here and there. So, since I have Lord Felthius and his Tainted Cohort, I figured I'd get those Blightlords done so I'd have some heavier hitters (Felthius himself will wait until I find a better head). To boost my cultist numbers, I also painted up a couple more, including a conversion for a leader.

This guy would count as a basic cultist with a melee weapon and an autopistol.

This fellow I did a little converting to make him match up with the leader figure.

Mostly, the work consisted in converting his rifle into a shotgun. I had a spare comms pack from my GCPS, so I gave that to him to help him stand out a bit more as a leader.

Now here's the Blightlords of the Tainted Cohort.

Tentacles here was completed first.

After Tentacles came Horney.

And then lastly, we have the final one I did who also happens to be my favorite of the group, Toothy.

Well, look what showed up in the mail yesterday.

This is the Zeus mecha from Joy Toy's Dark Source toyline. The shop I got it from offered to throw in a soldier figure for an additional dollar, so I took them up on that. The figure is surprisingly nice considering his small size. The mech itself is also quite nice. Big, too. The only negatives I have about it is that the mech's ankles do not have a rocker joint, which would give them the ability to tilt sideways. Because of that, his feet can't stay flat on the ground when he's in a wide stance. The other negative I have has to do with the way the cockpit is designed. It's just odd and seems really impractical. I'll try and get some pics of it so you can see.

The biggest problem I had with this figure is that the factory applied some kind of lubricant to the joints. Somehow the stuff got all over the figure, giving it a weird gooey, gummy feeling. I think this issue is a one-off oddity though, not the norm. My Iron Skeleton didn't have this problem. After some extensive scrubbing with paper towels and just leaving it exposed to open air, the gummyness seems to have gone away.

Weirdness with the lubricant aside, it is a good figure and very cool. I would like to get some morw of the robots and definitely more of the soldiers.

It came fully painted and weathered. I've done nothing to it. There's a fair bit of drybrushed silver and browns on it that didn't come out in that pic. The Iron Skeleton and the pilot also have weathering.

I have no clue why that ogre has a possessed shield though. Doesn't seem like their style.

I'm sure someone is going to look at this latest update expecting that this is about 40k Space Marines. No, these are proper Space Marines. My USMC Space Force gets some transportation. Honestly, I've had this thing, plus more troops and two more vehicles sitting around since I first posted these figures from GZG's Moongrunt line. I'm just extremely slow in actually getting to them. Plus, this vehicle is entirely metal.

It really needs some logos, flags, something on it, but I don't have any that are small enough to fit in those squares. I'm definitely not going to freehand them. I actually tried something new with this. I tried doing a thinned down wash mixed with dish soap and water. The mixture gave a very subtle weathered look to it, but it didn't really come out in the picture, unfortunately.

And speaking of slow to complete, I finally finished this squad of vaguely Storm Trooper looking guys from Micropanzer. These guys were from an unproduced range that were thrown in with an order as a bonus.

Whenever I get back home from this current house sitting job, I've got a whole slew of 15mm figures I just got primed. Unfortunately, they may all have to take a backseat so that I can get a Shadespire crew painted before a local tournament in May. I'm sure I'll lose badly, but it should be fun.

Continuing the 15mm parade, and as an appetizer to the main course, I finally got around to completing my Khanate infantry squad with smgs.

So, now them and their werewolf auxiliaries can get some good old fashioned street fighting in with some Psychoborg support.

The main order of business this past week has been building and completing a Shadespire warband. In this case, Magore's Fiends. I'd tried playing the game a few months ago against my brother and my cousin, but my cousin's belief in the Hear of the Cards resulted in him completely trouncing me so badly it completely turned me off the game. I decided to give it another go, this time using a beefier warband than the Bloodbound. I played against Highlord Tamburlaine over the weekend with the completed team and while I still got my butt kicked, I at least actually managed to take out his leader. The game started well for me, but I eventually lost, as expected. I can definitely see the need to do some proper deck building with the game.

So, without further ado, here's the warband. First, Ghartok Flayskull.

Then Zharkus the Bloodsighted, the only member to actually score a kill.

The big man himself, Magore Redhand.

Finally, Magore's faithful pooch, Riptooth.

As you can see, I did not use the typical red and brass color scheme for them. I liked the look of the Skulltaker Tribe's colors, so I used that. Unfortunately, I had a bit of a mishap with them. You'll note a lack of highlighting on most of the black sections of the armor. There actually was highlighting, but the paintjob on all three warriors was nearly ruined by the dullcoat I used. For whatever reason, Model Masters' dullcoat made the gold trim run on every one of them and left a bizarre glossy sheen on everything. I had to almost completely repaint the figures. Riptooth came out really well since I didn't use that dullcoat on him. Instead, I used a brush on Vallejo dullcoat that wound up working quite nicely. I tell you, I'm not using that Model Masters' crap anymore.

Nearly speed painted over the weekend, this figure is Queen Eaobhinn from Celtos. My flgs found some old stock from Celtos in storage and I wound up picking her up on a whim. I'm not sure if I'll wind up keeping this figure or not, but I like her. There's just something about those old Celtos and Void sculpts that I like.

And yes, I even went the extra mile to paint her eyes.

Today's update brings us the mightiest warrior of all, the Halfling Chef. Equipped with his trusty frying pan, garlic cloves, sausage links, and a blend of seven spices, nothing will stand in his way!

This figure came from Alternative Armies' Song of Blades and Heroes miniature line. He goes great with my Dwarf Butcher, too.

I have the Celtos rulebook at home in Ireland somewhere, I've always wanted to make some forces and fight it out. I especially loved their "aquatic" orcs and goblins serving the fomorians.

That queen is looking good. I assume she's for the Gael faction?

The expression on that halfling cook's face is impossibly grimdark!

California

Yes, I believe the queen and the priestess I posted a while back are both from the Gael faction.

The cook has seen some things.

I got another SOBH figure painted last night. This one is one of their Chaos Dwarves from their Axe and Brimstone expansion. The figure is made by Alternative Armies. He's basically a dwarf Wrathmonger.

The other thing I finished, which has taken pretty much the whole week, working in bits, is a Helbrute for my Weeping Legion. They needed more heavy hitters, so I figure a Helbrute will be a cheap way to get them some heavier firepower.

Continuing my long line of random models, here's a disembodied brain!

This was a freebie model that was thrown in with a Kickstarter order from RBJ Games.

Now, here's a fun one. This is a Wargames Exclusive Kataton Battle Servitor, which is very clearly meant to be a stand in for the Mechanicus Kataphron Battle Servitor. Personally, I think this looks much cooler than the little tank guys.

He's also quite large, so clearly whichever Magos Biologis made this guy was using some Ogryns or some vat-grown, gene modded brutes like the Goliaths for spare parts.

That brain is great and I sincerely hope it finds a place in your AdMech crew

Speaking of, nice huge battle servitor I always forget there's a dude one, as WarEx's chick ones are/were pretty infamous. There's a part of me that wants to summon a battalion of their pre-censorship gun chicks, but another part of me that's consistently stunned at how nekkid they are

(Ha, and another part of me that sees the big gun dude and wonders if there was a pre-censor version of him too )

Nice paint on the hellbrute. Brain deserves to be in a glass case on a servitor...

And speaking of servitors, that's quite nice, and Salvage's comments intrigued me. I foresee some Wargames Exclusive figures getting ordered shortly, Slaanesh demands it

Today's update is pretty boring. Just a couple of halflings, both from Alternative Armies.

First, the more boring of the two, a halfling mage. Dude looks like he's wearing a bathrobe.

Slightly more interesting, we have a halfling female who belongs to the Pelter Clan, which is a rather caveman-esque clan of barbarian outcasts in the Song of Blades and Heroes setting.

I think she'll be perfect for games of Paleo Diet.

You cavehalfinglady looks good. We should try out paleo diet this weekend if you don't want to lose at Shadespire again.

Between the two of us we should have enough cave people to start a clan (as you only need something like 4 to 8 I believe).

Alternative Armies made quite a few minis like that for Song of Blades and Heroes, if you're interested in caveman dwarves or halflings.

Here's another of the SOBH figures. I think this is actually a dwarf, but he's listed as a halfling on their website. Either way, this guy is a Pelter Clan Demon Slayer.

Continuing the barbarian trend, I also painted a couple of my resin champions from Shieldwolf. I think I actually like their resin ladies more than the plastics.

As an added bonus, all three of these figures should be good for Paleo Diet.
