I don't exactly know when I'll be getting back into my tomb kings again, but for future reference, how many bone gaints do people take in a 2250 list? I know you can take up to 2 or just go for the catapults, but are they worth it for the points?

Catapults are better, but I like the giants so still take 1 and 1 at those points.

catapults are only better if you're good at guessing.
The Bone giant is fine. Although at 2250 I recommend only 1 rare, and go whichever direction you like.
1-1 isn't terrible, but very points intensive on stuff you should be spending on core.

Depends on situation really.
Against units / armies that dont run away - Bone giants win easily.
Large attacks at high strength and high in numbers, he is also annoying to kill, and priests can heal him up if and when needed, he will work well unless charged into a tarpit on his own.
Screaming skull cats. - Against armies like empire and skaven they show thier worth.
Skulls of the foe should allways be taken, sit back and shoot large blocks of infantry and watch them run away.
2 of these facing a skaven army can cause amazing damage in the 1st turn.

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor. |

Thanks for the input. I may try a few games with both or 2 of the same in the list to see how they hold up and which I like better.

A friend of mine in a 2250 tourney used two bone giants and it was devastating. However, it was his strategy using them that made them really effective.
But the catapult gets stuff to run off, which totally mucks up the other guy's plans.

what, per ce, was the strategy that made them devestating?
Anyway, if you are going to have any fast/aggressive parts in your army a bone giant can throw in some really nice hurt.
If your army is really just a sit back and shoot then 2 catapults is best.

The strategy that makes them devastating is to understand that they are small footprint rank breakers with a decent movement.
Long story short, if you're charging the front of a unit, you're doing it wrong.
