Somewhere in south-central England.

Fluff or Modelling might be better places to ask.

I don't think there's an official colour palette.

The various fan art available usually depicts Shadowsun with bright red or white hair. Other Tau especially female are given similar hair colours or anime style hair colours (blue, pink, green, etc.)

I'm going to do my Tau females with anime hair. I think it fits with the Japanimation inspiration for the Tau and will make them look more alien than 'realistic' earth shades.

For all we know, Tau hair is pure white by nature but all individuals colour it to indicate rank or just to suit themselves. Various periods of human history show a similar use of wigs and make-up.

Tau males are usually depicted as bald. That could be for utility, or fashion, or because fan artists like to make pictures of females with big hair.

I'll upload some reference images.

Tau hair looks to be just like human hair, according to available fluff and all the painted models I've ever seen, except it's mostly darker colors like black or brown...Shadowsun is the odd one out with red hair. I'd imagine an aging Tau would have gray hair, but other than that you wouldn't see lighter colors I don't think, and especially none of this anime crap like blue or pink.

I saw a fanpic of them with Anime hair.

All the Tau I have ever seen are bald.

People must be removing the top knots then. Most of the non helmeted heads in my army are shaved with a top or side knot as is the Tau custom.

Personally, I was under the impression that the hair was black or brown with a few exceptions. It'd be interesting to know for sure.

Also, what color do Tau bleed? It would be nice for that battle weary survivor that I want to paint.

Bluish, like crabs.

I always remove the topknots, I think they are stupid and cliched.

There is practically nothing in the fluff to indicate hair colour. Black/brown would fit the oriental background, though it's not as interesting as anime coloured.

Personally I just don't think hair suits Tau. I think they look better bald. They look more heretical and alien that way. Makes them easier to kill.

I tend to paint officers red and 'las with black. It's a look thing. Never seen any reference as to what colors they are *supposed* to be.

What kind of heresy is that?

You know all SMs are bald.

Sadly that actually made me laugh.

Most of the tau i have seen in my mates army has been an offset colour to his paint schme, i think really as long as it turns out symmetrical then it will be sweet. Fluff wise out of the codex it's only really ever been different tones of brown.
