I was surprised at the elitism going on in the comment area underneath that post on BoLS... basically people who didn't show up were going "oh those lists suck, I could have beat that"

All I could do was sigh.

'Ard Boyz semifinals in Fayetteville had Orks in 1st and 2nd (one BW, one horde) and Nids in 3rd. I think we're starting to see the backlash from all the mech/anti-mech lists in the form of some "3rd tier" armies doing well because melta's aren't useful against them.

While 'ard Boyz is a bit hit and miss for results (most tourneys with only 3 rounds are very luck/match-up driven) I think I read BOLSCon was 7 rounds? Might be a good indication that all the mech/melta lists are trashing each other without bringing the right stuff to deal with non-mech/non-MEQ lists.

Abso-frakkin-lutley true dat.

I love how people will scoff at lists saying "they arent competative" or "Not a 5e list" from their comfy computer chairs. Meanwhile these "non-competetive" list players go out and win tournaments.

Even if a 'list' doesnt seem to competetive, perhaps the person playing it is? Maybe that person has the ability to out-play someone with a net list or 'best of' army? Or maybe, just maybe, that player has a plan and is just d@mn good.

I've always thought, "If you/you're army can beat his/that army...go out there and prove it, otherwise keep your sour grapes to yourself." ...and by proving it, I mean WIN, the trophy, not just all your games. Otherwise, you came up short at the tournament...for whatever reason...you were outquaffed. In such cases, you cannot talk about the winners...they beat you fair and square.

Congrats to the winners of Bolscon! Sounds like it was a fun time, I may have to attend next year.

I can see how the orks won.

the list, while not the traditional OP ork list, has some good units that can be used to great effect.

but the nid list? How the hell did that win? all it would take is a couple of marine units rapid firing into the gaunts from cover, and then boom, game over.

are people really that stupid that they only stack anti-tank for their tournament lists? nobody takes flamers?

A tad OT i know but, those nids have a combination of AdMech and Tau parts, wtf is up with that?

They won because most of the games were objective based,

Also winning was only 20 points the rest of the scoring for a game was at least 27 points.

So camp objectives satisfy secondary criteria avoid being tabled.

I dunno, but it surely is unique and I give the modeller props! I think it had something to do with tau assimilation... I personally don't care for the tau all that much but that Tyranid swarm looks pretty nifty with all that tech-y gear.

I don't think this is the backlash from anti-mech at all. Anti-mech melta-spam ought to roll nids. Meltas, lascannons, and other high strength low AP weapons roll monstrous creatures while anything with a gun (yes, even you grots) can kill gaunts/hormagaunts/rippers.

The orks I can understand, the nids... were people asleep at the wheel or something? I play nids, I've played HG heavy lists and if anyone, anyone at all, decides to focus fire those mean charging machines for the first two or three turns, you are toast. Everything else can get picked off as things leave the cover of the gaunt screen.

Edit: everything else which is slow, not keeping up with the fleeting gaunt screen, and trying to shoot ineffective AT weapons gets picked off.

Can anyone tell us what kind of game he played? What did he do with all the pieces?

I don’t see what you are talking about.

The massed melta approach will do nothing to the little bugs, and they have the ability to charge 19”-24” so you have no chance to shoot them before they are all over you like white on rice.

That build will give a lot of armies trouble when they are all built up to kill MEQs and Mech.

I agree. When did the 'nids start being technologically advanced?
