I have some models of both eldar fleets, but i was wondering which to collect a full fleet of, pirates or Craftworld.

Input?

Congratulations, your dismissive and conclusory commentary has provided nothing to this discussion or the wider community on whose behalf you arrogantly presume to speak nor does it engage in any meaningful way the remark it lamely targets. But you did manage to gain experience points toward your next level of internet tough guy.

The Corsair fleet is a tad more effective/stronger.

The Craftworld fleet looks better/cooler.

imo

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Well looks is subjective, I personally find the pirate fleets look better.

In my opinion the craftworld fleet designs and lists are poor indeed. Like the other also rans in the game such as Dark Eldar you get a handful of units to use. Frankly they need not have bothered.

The Eldar 'pirate' fleet however is well supported. when people play 'Eldar' they nromally mean the 'pirate' fleet. To me there is no distinction.

If you want a craftworld background ansd craftworld colours I suggest you ignore the craftworld fleet and just take the normal eldar fleet instead. More variety, less Foreworld prices and metal sails are a lot sturdier than resin.

Really there is no need to bother with the 'craftworld' fleets at all. Besides I really cant see how pirate groups can grow battleships but the big craftworlds cannot, it makes no sense.

As far as the lists go, 'pirate' Eldar are hands down superior, better variety decednt designs and no junk.

It's a no brainer.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

Cool, I disagree on the full lenght with you! haha

Wella... the Craftworld's do have a Grand Cruiser. Just compare the Flame of Asuryan is equal to the Void Stalker.

What are your main beefs with design and list?

The pirate fleet is better balanced and has more variety.
Also, I 'hate' fighting them more.
Which is a good thing

Statwise/playing types:

Corsair Eldar:
1 Battleship
2 cruisers
2 light cruisers
4 escorts

Craftworld Eldar
1 Grand Cruiser (Flame of Asuryan)
4 Battle Cruisers
4 Cruisers
2 escorts

variety? Who has more?

Also: the old spacefleet models blend perfectly into the modern Craftworld fleet.

The craftworld fleet only has four models, all the variants you see are different combinations of those four hulls. each of the pirate ships is unique with its own distinctive model, or sub range of models for escorts. you8 can also have variety with some of the pirate vessels too, for instance you can rearm the battleship with torpedoes if you wish (but it isnt recommended) and can thus claim there are 'two' pirate battleships no less than there are 'four' craftworld cruisers.

Furthermore the pirate list has a full range of ship sizes limiting only grand cruisers.

The torp option on the Void Stalker is unofficial by the way. And too claim there are 2 Pirate battleships I don't understand it when you say the Craftworld has 4. The torp option does not give a new model so to say.

Yeah, the Craftworld has 4 basic models (Flame, Dragon, Wraith & Shadow). (Corsair: 9).
And indeed the cruiser (or escort) vary by the fact which weapons you give them and in which combo.

But look at the Imperial Navy or Chaos cruisers: a core model (1 !!) with various weapon combos.

Corsair Eldar
Void Stalker (1 model, 2 game variants, 1 being unofficial)
Eclipse (1 model, 1 game variant)
Shadow (1 model, 1 game variant)
Aurora (1 model, 1 game variant)
Solaris (1 model, 1 game variant)
Hellebore (1 model, 1 game variant)
Aconite (1 model, 1 game variant)
Nightshade (1 model, 1 game variant)
Hemlock (1 model, 1 game variant)

Craftworld Eldar
Flame of Asuryan (1 model, 1 game variant)
Dragonship (1 core model - with 4 different weapon combinations, 4 game variants)
Wraithship (1 core model - with 4 different weapon combinations, 4 game variants)
Shadowhunter (1 core model with - 2 different weapons, 2 game variants)

In the rules doc they could have made a separate entry per Dragonship variant but they didn't. The IN cruisers are shown separate but could be potraited the same as said Eldar ships.

So, I agree that the Corsair have more variety shipwise / core model but variant wise it is quite even.

Somewhere in the unknown universe.

I think I'll go with the Craftworld Eldar-

I like the look of the wraithships, and I can use the flame of Asuryan as my flagship (with a different name, of course).

I also like the concept of the ghostship.

Can anyone propose a good CWE list? I don't know where to start, having only played the game a few times.
