Deadly Dire Avenger

Hey guys, I've been play testing a lot of games now, and I've tweaked my previous list a bit, so I wanted to see what you all thought. Here it is:

Farseer-Doom, Rune of Warding
95

6 Fire Dragons
Wave Serpent-Spirit Stones, TL Shuriken Cannon
206

9 Dire Avengers-Exarch, Dual Catapults, Bladestorm
Wave Serpent-Spirit Stones, TL Bright Lance
285

10 Dire Avengers-Exarch, Dual Catapults, Bladestorm
Wave Serpent-Spirit Stones, TL Bright Lance
297

10 Storm Guardians-2 Flamers, Warlock, Destructor
Wave Serpent-Spirit Stones, TL Bright Lance
272

Fire Prism
115

Fire Prism
115

Fire Prism
115

total:1500

The things I'm most unsure of are a)the Storm Guardians, because of their flimsiness (I used to take Pathfinders instead) and b) the bog standard Doomseer (I used to take Eldard with the points left over from losing the 4th Serpent)
Opinions please!!

The 4th serpent will replace the pathfinders 2+ save easily. The stormies should just stay in until they need to clear an objective or stay in all together; they just work as a cheap troop choice. Eldrad is to expensive for 1500 points when you have another seer.

I would consider dropping a fire prism and half a squad of Dire avengers. Then you can take 4 more fire dragons and a falcon. Put 5 avengers into the falcon and dragons into a wave serpent.

Then you have 2 quality units against heavy armor instead of just one.

Looks like honestly a solid list really.

Looks rather solid.
I wouldn't take Pathfinders as they give your opponent a focus and this is not what you want.

Honestly, I think the Storm guardians are a better choice than the DA, but that's just me.

if you change the 2 DA s1quads into SG sqads, you save 38 points, that can be used to add 2 fire dragons, as well as add 2 Spears to your Storm guardian squads, for a little more ranged AT. Or you can add just one fire dragon, then add an exarch with a dragon's breath flamer, and then every squad in your army is good at both anti horde and antitank, and everything is scary to something.

I like the list though.

Looks pretty solid
Fire prisms kick ass
However, storm gaurdians are a weakness, toughness 3 and 5+ save...
Take two sqauds of pathfinders if you must take troops, but banshees are your best option, especially seeing your farseer has doom.
Take 8 in the serpen with excutioner exarch

Looks solid really. I as well dont really like storm guardians a lot and would probably try taking a unit of pathfinders and perhaps a unit of bikes instead. Could even take pathfinders and two small units of bikes.

Yes pathfinders may give your opponent a target, but its not a bad idea to give them something to go after to break up their forces. The bikes can be used to grab objectives or again they can be useful to distract and disperse your opponent. Three bikes are cheap enough to throw away if they cause your opponent to lose his focus.

Why does my eldar army run three fire prisms? Because the rules wont let me use four in (regular 40k).

The Stormies are great. Keep them.

They add in a 3rd scoring WS, which is huge for a mech list. Any footslogging troops will hamper your play in pure mech, as it gives your opponents something to shoot their bolters/lasguns at.

Also, when you face any kind of horde, you will be very glad to have 2x Flamers + Destructor. Tanks shock them all to gether with the WS, then hop out and burn them

Heck, that combo even fries MEQs, if you doom them first. A couple of weeks ago, my Stormies with the exact same setup did that to a unit of Necron warriors and killed every single one of them...no WBB for them!

In my opinion you have way too much anti tank. How many AV14 are you planning on running up against in 1500 Pts.

What do you think of this keeping with what you have built with some changes to star cannons instead of brightlances.

I agree about the Stormies, and so the Pathfinders are back in, and instead of Jetbikes, I took the mighty Eldrad for his amazing Fortune spamming ability .

What do you think of this keeping with what you have built with some changes to star cannons instead of brightlances.

In short, no, Starcannons are naff and a total waste of points. For cheaper you can get Scatter Laser which is same Str double the number of shots! Or for slightly more you can get the Bright Lance which is equally great at destroying AV12, 13 and 14, including other skimmers, Land Raiders (Leman Russ, Vindicators, Iron Clads, the list goes on)
I'm gonna stick with the Bright Lances thanks. If I went with DAVU instead of full Avenger units, I might consider souble Shuriken Cannon, since I won't be moving as far, but I'm not .
